Anyone interested? cs_gamer 09-23-2003, 10:34 PM i am. where were you going to get your servers? i can do what you can, with CS, HL, DOD and some other games. it real easy. UltdNetworks 09-23-2003, 11:36 PM give me an e-mail. kevinh@fusionnetcenter.com dpendor 09-24-2003, 12:11 AM I got a NOC place thats pretty dam cheap, and awesome service.. and already have a good rep with them from previous business... give me a yell as I am severely interested party in such a thing. As far as from the homework i have done.. a cs server with 32 players uses 80kbps? thats nothing.. lets talk RL-Curtis 09-24-2003, 06:14 PM You might want to do your homework again ;) dpendor 09-24-2003, 11:18 PM those are quotes from my ISP who does this service already and is based on average cs_gamer 09-25-2003, 10:42 AM must be barely used. you should get quotes of public servers. Perlboy 09-25-2003, 01:16 PM Heya, My understanding was a Half-life server consumed between 24-32kbps per client. So 32 players is around 768kbps. Translated into per MB usage: 24kbps ~ 11MB an Hour Therefore: 768kbps ~ 352MB an hour So a packed 32 player server will consume: 352MB an hour 8.25GB a day 250GB a month Now, taking the fact that a server probably has peaks and valleys in usage. I'm gonna guess ~150 - 200MB an hour in bandwidth usage. Just my 2c, Stuart bango 09-25-2003, 02:26 PM Stuart's right about the bandwith. dpendor's ISP's servers must never ever be used :P dpendor 09-25-2003, 08:52 PM You really thing that it constantly pumps the maximum thru? What about inbetween game pauses, what about times the player is idle and not moving, there are hundreds of factors. What about times there is 31 players, times players are dropping. I said my quoted averages were those from a ISP providing these services... This is the business these people are interested in. These are the facts they should know. Regardless, I have 30mbps connection and interested in this.. I can careless about bandwidth costs.. so if you are interested I already have the pipe, a 1U slot costs 45.00 ea. cs_gamer 09-26-2003, 12:35 PM 1.5mbps is good for a 32player server. no lag at all. where r u located? 7de5igns 09-26-2003, 05:34 PM I'm canada. oblivion2kX 09-26-2003, 05:57 PM I can be the official server tester for cs :stickout: |
