Just wondering who has the cheapest price for domain name registration.
![]() | View Full Version : Which is the cheapest domain registrar? TestPilot 08-21-2001, 02:26 AM Just wondering who has the cheapest price for domain name registration. SoftWareRevue 08-21-2001, 02:39 AM I think http://www.GoDaddy.com and http://www.Stargateinc.com are about as good as it gets for inexpensive domain name registrars. edude 08-21-2001, 02:48 AM http://www.powerpipe.com Vesalius 08-21-2001, 03:58 AM Originally posted by TestPilot Just wondering who has the cheapest price for domain name registration. I just signed with an European Internic registrar who offers me .com domains as reseller for only 7.8 $. It's very cheap :) Vesalius vesalius@pandora.be ICQ 30221908 TheOp 08-21-2001, 05:15 AM Originally posted by Hostexp http://www.powerpipe.com powerpipe is an Enom (registrar) reseller, not an actual registrar. go with stargateinc.com. 8 bucks for 2 or more domains. :) edude 08-21-2001, 05:17 AM I don't see anything wrong with them even if they are a reseller? Regards, HostEXP forumaddict 08-21-2001, 05:39 AM i also recommend powerpipe.com great prices, good service i have tried stargateinc and have had nothing but problems tried their transfer service as well, and it never works also powerpipe works out cheaper than stargateinc if you only wish to register one name ozwebhost 08-21-2001, 08:21 AM Go with Go Daddy... low rates.. good on transfers and offer Private Label if you want it. We have used over 6 months with no problems. OzWebHost www.ozwebhost.net Palm 08-21-2001, 08:49 AM Most cheap registrar spam you. Jodi K. 08-21-2001, 10:09 AM ... but I think Dotster (http://www.dotster.com/) might be able to help you. They're not SUPER cheap - but they have a great administration panel, they *don't* spam you, and $15 / year is a lot better than the $35 / year that Network Solutions is asking for. I just can't *believe* those guys are still in business with the outrageous prices they're asking for domains. Does anyone get that? Is Network Solutions just coasting on existing customers that are too afraid to transfer? --Jodi Martie 08-21-2001, 10:15 AM I always recommend http://www.000domains.com Very easy interface, and 13.50 yearly:D Jonathan K. 08-21-2001, 10:20 AM Originally posted by Palm Most cheap registrar spam you. No offence, but I disagree with that. Most decent companies with a grain of common sense know how much even being accused of sending spam could hurt their reputation. No one likes being spammed, I know I don't. With that said, isn't NetSol guilty of having spammed a couple of times? I don't think anyone would call them cheap either. :) In keeping with the topic, I'd easily recommend Godaddy.com if you wish to register just a domain name or Stargateinc.com if you wish to register 2 or more domain names at a time. Have used them both myself and have had no problems :) TheOp 08-21-2001, 01:08 PM Originally posted by Palm Most cheap registrar spam you. stargateinc.com does not spam. After using them for a year I have yet to receive an unwanted e-mail soliciation. TheOp 08-21-2001, 01:11 PM Originally posted by Hostexp I don't see anything wrong with them even if they are a reseller? Regards, HostEXP I didn't say there was anything wrong with them. I was just making a clarification. Registrars put alot of time and money into becoming accredited and operational. I don't believe resellers should be included in the term "registrar". TheOp 08-21-2001, 01:14 PM Originally posted by forumaddict i have tried stargateinc and have had nothing but problems tried their transfer service as well, and it never works My only problems with transfers were related to NSI and register.com's new transfer policies. Other than that I have had a good experience with the on-line transfer procedure. SLN 08-21-2001, 01:31 PM Hello, We have been using http://jumpdomain.com for 2 years now, and we haven't had a single problem. They have a very nice, and easy to use control panel, which pretty much has all the features. You can change ownership of domain for free, and most of the companies will charge you a fee. Their price is $14.99/yr., might not be the cheapest, but certainly one of the best. Regards, SLN tribby 08-21-2001, 01:49 PM I use Dotster. They're a little pricey at $15/year, but they've got great tech support and I've never had any trouble with them at all. Jeremy Jodi K. 08-21-2001, 02:02 PM I feel I should point out something. I know that price is an issue for a lot of people - but in many cases, higher pricing means better service (not in ALL cases, but in many. :) ). It means that the company in question has the funds to pay for people who can actually man the phones and/or take care of email inquiries. It means that the company can afford to create user-friendly interfaces that make things easier for the customer. My point is that a combination of pricing and customer/tech service should be the criteria used to decide on a service - not pricing alone. All the best, --Jodi SoftWareRevue 08-21-2001, 02:18 PM Jodi K., That may well be true. But the originator of the thread asked, "Just wondering who has the cheapest price for domain name registration." :D Jodi K. 08-21-2001, 02:23 PM Point taken, SoftWareReview. ;) I was mostly just responding to the apologizing that was going on in regards to domain registrars that weren't technically the "cheapest" but offered great service & perks. :) But you're right. That was what the original poster asked for. I think this thread managed to provide a few suggestions... --Jodi determinist 08-21-2001, 02:37 PM Another good one is namecheap.com, they priced at $8.95. I've got no problem with them so far and looks like there business is blooming from a current user hit counter at the bottom of their control panel page. It use to be around 5-20 in the past but right it easily topped 100 or more. Support response had been reasonable so far, I've got all emails answered within a day. That goes for godaddy.com too |
