Hi:

I am very new to colocation industry. I have been reading the mails here with interest for the last two days.

Based on the recommendations, I believe something like efreeservers works best for me. However, I also want somebody else to backup services.

Do you know any such service? Or, what are the popular choices people use?

Details: I want to host a Linux server, that hosts company email, and webserver, and some other files. Our company has distributed offices, hence we would like to depend on this server for main communcation needs. Hence dependability is number one priority. We have been paying USA.net to provide our emails and it costs way too much and we cannot control it much either.

I apologize if these questions have been answered in other threads. Please redirect me to appropriate resources.

Thanks,
Rama

Alot of colo facilities offer backup services, most charge by having your server backed up either daily or weekly, and the service for weekly backups usually starts at around $100 a month, daily backups are usually a bit more expensive.
You just need to ask your colo facility what backup services they provide, if any...

Driver98,

Are you affiliated to ORIGIX in Dallas? :D

I would recommend ORIGIX in Dallas, they sell by the U provide multi peer IP access and FTP storage capabilities.
I would recommend you STOP SPAMMING THE FORUM with your ads. I would also recommend no one throw any business towards someone that would do this. Sheesh.

Hi all:

Thanks for the answers so far. I was wondering what kind of choices do I have? For example, if the colo provider does not offer backup, can I do online backup?

What do people generally do for backups? Do most colo providers also offer backup services? How much should I expect to pay for such services?

Thanks

We signed up for eFreeServers for a main server, and have a backup Raq 4i at RackShack.net for $99 a month. Its a great way of doing backups. Cost effective and quick.
