I have all of my domain names at stargate. Went to renew a few and noticed the price increase to $14.95. Going to give Godaddy a shot so I switched one on the 14th. All contact info/e-mails are valid but I have yet to hear anything from Stargate. Should I be worried? Did a search and saw a few threads about registrars denying transfers. Ouch.

If I recall, I think you have to preapprove the transfer with Stargate before you initiate the transfer with GoDaddy.
So I would go to stargate, approve the transfer, or find out what their process is, and then you can resubmit the transfer with GoDaddy. Should go through fine at that point.

I just read through Stargates FAQ and other support and it says nothing about it. I have had my domains registered with them for three years and have never noticed anything like that in my control panel.
BTW, I have been happy with Stargate but I can't justify spending $6 extra just to stay with them.

I just transferred a bunch of .com domains away from Stargate to my eNom account and I did not have to "preapprove" it with Stargate. Perhaps what DanimalEQ is referring to is, you want to make sure that: (1) you do not have a registrar lock on the domain over at Stargate; (2) your domain has not expired (Stargate is really bad about this... they throw it into the redemption period very quickly = more hassle and more money for you); and, of course, (3) make sure that your email and contact information is correct for the domain in the whois.
Usually you will hear from the new registrar first in a verification email. Then you verify that you want the domain transferred. For me, it all went very quick and smooth. Took all of 48 hours.
Good Luck!

48 hours. Wow! 6 days ago I approved the Godaddy verification email. No word from Stargate. They keep it up and I'll move all my domains now.

If you don't hear something by Monday, I would definitely contact GoDaddy as they are the new registrar. You also might want to run an occasional whois on the domains to make sure that they end up under your name with the proper contact information.
BTW, welcome to WHT... ;)

I'm in a similar predicament. I'm doing a transfer from Active-domains.com to Go Daddy, and it's been 5 days since I confirmed. I just want it done with!
I love Active-Domain as they are an eNom reseller with good prices and good support, but I wanted the "private registration" feature Go Daddy offers for one of my domains...

From what I understand, the transfers may be approved and all but it's the losing registrar that releases it at his time frame.
Recently, I transferred quite a few and the average time is about 7 to 9 days. Some as long as 14 with the shortest being 3 days.
Also, some got transferred without the confirming email.
