View Full Version : Non-dedicated IP: pre 3.0 browser problem?

I've searched & read the various posts about dedicated ip vs. layered or stacked ip, and it seems these are the valid reasons for needing a dedicated ip:

1. anon FTP
2. SSL
3. pre 3.0 browsers won't see sites without a dedicated ip (will see the host domain's home page instead).

I've not seen item 3 mentioned on WHT, so that's the gist of this query: is it true? is there a workaround?

Thanks...

This is true, however less than 0.01% of world-wide-web users use pre-4.0 browsers, at least according to my statistics.

I've heard that, yet in one of my accounts 12% were NS 2x & 3x browsers (over a 12-month period), so I'm not sure it's something to ignore.
