I was going to post this in the long e.freeservers thread, but thought it'll be better in a new thread...

Does e.freeservers provide a managed hosting sevice, or do they just give the the dedicated server and that's it, you're on your own?

I'm with Rackspace.com, newly moved over there and their support is great! I'm in the UK, so I phone them when I'm up in the morning if needed, which is like 3AM in the US, and the staff there are still really great to help :). Would e.freeservers do that?

I don't want to just pick on e.freeservers, how many hosts do you know that would do something like that.

I chose Rackspace because I like to know that I can get to my server 24/7, I mean if I wanted a reboot straight away, or if there was a problem I can get them to sort it out.

LOL, looking at this post, I've given a lot of credit to Rackspace, am I allowed to that on here (I'm new here, so still learning :))?

I've got a lot more of great stuff to say about them, all good stuff, but don't want to make this post sound like I'm trying to sell them :D.

Maybe we can post your hosting company's name and also what you think of their support? Or join in on the poll!

Hi,

I just changed from rackspace.com to efreeservers.com :-). The main reason behind that is the price of rackspace.com is too high compare with efreeservers.com.

The support of rackspace is really great. That's the true. But because I can handle most technical things, so there is no reason for me to pay such a high price. And remember, they use AMD CPU (not PIII). I don't know whether efreeservers.com can offer the same support as rackspace.com but so far, their support is good too. Normally, it takes less than 1 hour for them to answer my email, even on Sunday.

If you need help on efreeservers.com, pl let me know.

I've just checked and my server's using Intel Pentium processors, did you mean efreeservers uses AMD or Rackspace?

I can usually fix technical problems myself too, but I still feel much better with the true 24/7 support at hand.

Actually Intel or AMD should be the least of your concerns. In any case, these days AMD CPU's easily outruns Pentiums.

>>>these days AMD CPU's easily outruns Pentiums.

You have to be crazy, right?

Where is the data on this>? Intel will kill AMD any day
with any operating system on it.

I mean RS. My server has been used for 2 years. May be at that time they use AMD. I don't know what they use now.

I think AMD and PIII is very close now. Esp, the new AMD and it's much cheaper.

I've had a dedicated server with Rackspace for a couple of months now. I've had to contact them about a half dozen times for various support issues and every time they have been simply phenomenal. Everyone talks about Rackspace being too expensive. I'm aware that I could easily find a deal with some other company for 20% to 40% less money than I am currently paying, but we all know you get what you pay for. I feel that I'm getting even more than I'm paying for in terms of superb service, so you'll never hear me gripe about the price.

I certainly agree with Epsilon :D . Nice to hear from another Rackspace user in this forum.

I had 2 servers with them
Still have one,
Their support and service are nothing short of excellent, I have been with them for over a year now.
Sometimes they rather surprise me by how fast they can solve problems,

I have dealt with other server company too where i have a linux box now , and i can see the difference between the two.

If you are new to servers and are going to need help rs is the place to go.
