Hello,
I just found some backup files on /backup for some sites that I have terminated through WHM. Is it safe to remove these files?

Well, if you don't need the backups; you don't need the backups.
Thank you! But should not WHM take care of the backups as well when terminating accounts?!

http://www.cplicensing.net/extras/scripts/cleanbackups is a nice script that deletes backups. You can set this cron or run it manually.

Backup will not backup files after the accounts are terminated. For the backup's done before the termination, they probably do not remove it. You know, just in case you terminate the wrong account and need it restored. ;) Things like that do happen and I believe they want to keep their nose clean.

This is a long known issue. And there's many people asking for it. But Cpanel is not moving on it. There's pros and cons. The pros being if you terminate an account by mistake, you can still restore it.
The clean backup script seems to work ok. I used it before. Try that.
