Agreed. They're being pretty stupid about. This is actually like version 6.5.

Anyway, I'm going to wait a bit more before upgrading my box to 8.0.

K, i've said this many times before.

My Opinion:

Cpanel should really slow down a bit with the updates, and just continue improving their previous versions, especially with the security.

The more features and options they add through each update, the more exploits and bugs there will be.

There are already i think, enough features with CPanel, but now, the issue is concerning Security and Stability.

just my 2c

No problems here and we've been up to our eyeballs in CPanel for a few years now. Don't like Ensim so we don't use it - now you know ;)

So far, those who upgraded to Release 2 managed to kill their email.

But there are a lot of improvements in the new builds, so hopefully when the STABLE comes out, it'll be what it should be, stable.

Maybe they will finally spell things correctly...

cPanel has to be the most embarrassing piece of software I have used as far as grammar and spelling goes. Most free software I have used is better.

It makes my company look bad to offer a control panel with crap misspellings like "automagicly" and "automaticlly" embedded in it.

What happened to 8.0 release and 8.0 stable? Why is it at 8.2 release already, and what happened to 8.1? Looks to me as if they're trying to pass AOL in version numbers quickly, without doing much of anything in terms of changes. What about the fully functional cluster feature, that was supposed to be available by 6.2? Where is that now?

I upgraded to 8.2 R4 and it's pretty stable... nothing happened. cPanel does increment version numbers pretty quickly, but it's their decision on how they want to represent changes.

cpanel has a changelog somewhere in their site... look around. I read through it before I decided to update in case there was a big change that could pose a problem. cPanel hardly added new features, they basically made spelling corrections, updated the webmail interface, and fixed many bugs.

Under Suspend/Unsuspend Accounts. Poke a site, and suspend it, the resulting information page shows 'suspened' as it always has.

Skin is X2 (or default, or whatever they call it now) :)

I find it highly annoying that they saw fit to change what was universally one of the most liked Cpanel themes. So, they took it, and threw that big dumb crappy picture at the top.

Yet another thing that Cpanel didn't think through before acting. What the hell happens to the 'branding' feature now? We just bin that so we can look at that stupid huge picture that looks like something off a Timmah run hosting site?

CrazyTech
10-02-2003, 05:57 PM
I know I loved the skin and really don't see why they threw it out either myself. It was a great skin and not so fake looking like the ones are now. All the X skins look the same to me with the exeception of a few small differences.

As for the above skin I posted, the person did it because they didn't like Blue Lagoon's removal either. Not as good as ole' blue, but as close as you're going to get unless you go custom.
