I just found that one of my vbulletin license which I bought in Jan 17 2003 from a member (cheaper) here at WHT had became inactive because he requested a refund just after he made a transfer to me. The license was transferred to me on January 17 and I have received an email confirmation of the transfer from vbulletin.
Yesterday when I login to my account and found that othe license was Inactive - Refund (Requested By Customer)
(Owned) 17th Apr 2004 No License Options.
I filed a report with vbulletin yesterday and they told me that the quy requested a refund on Jan 20 and told me to pursue my payment back from the person who sold me.
On Jun 18,2003 I have the license combined with some other licenses which I am having with different email, at that time my license was still active, and after 8 months now they me the license is no longer belong to me.
This is outrages.

Thanks for the info never knew something like this could be done people will have to start usin contracts soon. But thanks alot this is very important.
Unfortunately this vBulletin scam has been going on for quite awhile.
It's best to follow a few rules of thumb:
1. If the price seems too good to be true, then it probably is.
2. It's not a good idea to buy from a person with very few posts on the forum. (There's been a few people with fewer than 10 posts trying to sell vb licenses, and although they could be genuine, it's a little safer to buy from someone with an established reputation on WHT)
3. If the license has more than 9 or 10 months of members area access left on it, then take care because these seem to be the most dangerous to buy.
4. Checking the license number with Jelsoft is a good step, but does not gaurantee anything.
Sorry that you got burned, hopefully people will eventually learn to spot these scams before they become victims.

Here is another suggestion...
Don't pay via PayPal.. instead use your credit card and ask the seller to use other services (not paypal).. You will be safer that way... cuz you can always contact your CC company and ask for refund :)

This really suck! Have already been very caution too even receiving password and proof of the license before buying. The suck part is that they can refund even the license was transferred to me and I after all these month without knowing.
I am using 2checkout to pay.

Shouldn't You ask for a Password change / Details change as soon as the change over is done?

When you buy a license which is transferred from another user you have to accept the transfer and are warned of thigs like this.
Here is a quote from my email:
Additionally please note that since chargebacks can occur up to 6 months after a purchase, there is a slight possibility that the person you are purchasing this license from may issue a chargeback against their original vBulletin purchase - thus invalidating the license being transferred to you. In this event, you would no longer be allowed to use the license. Please note that this has occurred in only a small number of cases but it is something we feel you should be aware of.

I have tried to be careful, he even show me proof by giving the password to his account before buying and had it transfered to me.

Never thought of the charge back BUT how can vb allow this kind of charge back when the license is no longer belong them. If they are using false CC then there could be a charge back but perpetrating to a scam I don't see why they allow this.
