You might like to have a look at WebExpose @ http://www.webexpose.net - not sure about subdomains, so ask them.

Hi,

thanks for the tip sounds not too bad but I really need a lot of bandwidth for a reasonable price. Do you have anything with unlimited traffic on hand? I enquired with them and well, am waiting for a response from them.

I might have to add that I am using Softcomca.com right now and well their server is down a bit too often recently and even worse their JMail wont work (now for roughly 24 hours) at all which kills all my features I need a host which should be more reliable there - and if its less than say 30$ I would not mind that too!

I personally think that for 60GB per month you will have to go on a dedicated server (or a co-location) since this is a lot of traffic and would cost more to your host than to you ;)

Try and look around for medium-sized dedicated servers or if you can, buy your own NT box (I don't recommend that)

60 GB is a lot true. But I am hosting multiple domains (currently 6, more in the back) with them, so I guess the mix will be just fine.
60 only occurs on one site.

At what prices do dedicated servers start if I may ask and more: would that enable me to host all the domains / sites on that one server (i.e. rise the budget)?

thanks for your feedback !

Every host that claims to give you unlimited bandwidth is a liar and is not going to remain in the business for very long. Nothing is unlimted in the world! There have been others who tried to provide this and went down under faster then a sinking ship!

Well you can check out http://www.tera-byte.com the cost of extra bandwidth is very very low here. I think 3$/gb.

A dedicated server of the config -->
PIII 500
128 mb ram
50gigs of transfer

would cost you abt 200$/mth.. the setup costs depensd on where you go. Some good companies are
http://www.ultraspeedusa.com
http://www.dialtoneinternet.com
http://www.dn.com

They would allow you to host "unlimited" domains on it :)

Pandager,

Somehow I missed the traffic requirement. Stupid me :D

There's no host on the Net that will 60GBs on one site - they will almost certainly force you to go to a dedicated server.

If you do a search for 'unlimited bandwidth' on this forum, you'll see that the term is a flat lie, and the real limit is usually hidden somewhere in the host's TOS or AUP, or forms part of the host's discretion to shut you down if you've exceeded a limit. Bandwidth does cost a certain amount of money per GB and if the hosts pay for it out of their own pocket without bothering you, then they're the ones losing the money and will shut you down (sometimes without giving any reason).

Dedicated servers start from $99/month, with most around the $125-300/month range - check the Dedicated and Co-lo forum around here and ask there again, and you should get some pretty decent deals. Bandwidth however will still be your big problem, so ask around carefully.

The best of luck.

From my personnal experience (as a host) I can tell you that a dedicated server for 60 GB will never be under $150 unless it is a pice of cr*p :)

Bandwidth on average will cost you around 100-200$ per month and the rest is in the server... It all depends on what kind of server you like.

I know of no web host that would allow 60 GB of traffic on a shared server, that would simply eat up all their traffic and system ressources for one site only. And if you find it, it would probably cost more than having a dedicated server.

once again thanks. I am looking into all options.

I know that unlimited does not exist. Still unmetered or 60 GB free would be lovely. If you look at the calculations it is usually done under the assumtion that the average site uses X GB traffic. So there is usally room for a few high users as well. Some people dont mind it up to a certain amount. I am using 60 here since in my peak time I actually reached such a number now traffic runs around 40 - 45 GB which makes me seriously consider terrabyte. Has anyone ever experienced serious downtimes or (worse almost) inaccessibility of their mail-scripts? Running my site on NT with my current host it seems their system has serious hickups, precisely: JMail is not responding on my system - which castrates the site.

pandager, everyone else is correct in saying Unlimited hosts are not unlimited, and no, they do not do what you said above, because EVERY gig of traffic they process a month costs them on average $3.75 per gb (i'm averaging this from varying prices at many co-loc and dedicated places)

Now your 60gb will be costing them around 225 a month.

What you said above is that they make allowance for a few high traffic sites, which that is correct. But high traffic in terms of

Average site uses 1gb
High traffic site uses mabey 5-6gb

Your 60gb site does not count. NO host Unlimited or not, will loose that much money on you, since the majority of unlimited hosts are small 1 server operations (not all but most are).

Ontop of that you will have an even harder time finding a NT host offering such.

Unfortinuately, you will most likley need a dedicated server.

To give you a quick outline of your costs.

You'd be looking @ about.

$250 a month if you were to buy your own hardware and co-locate somewhere.

Or about $350 a month if you were to go dedicated, plus hardware setup (anywhere from $300 plus depending on the company) plus don't forget the NT liscensing costs and any costs of additional NT software you need.

(The $250 and $350 were made with an estimate of 70-75 gb a month traffic in mind)

I'm just wondering, how did you come up with the 60GB? That's allot. Every host I've encounter will ask you to go to dedicated and even then they'll requier certain things from you. Being a network engineer, I'll tell you that 60gb is allot of bandwidth. Usually, when I talk to customers with this kind of requirements, they get a dedicated server with some sort of point-to-point connection for certain internal things such as transfering files and then another segment for internet connections. Companies like Exodus and Digex make allot of money with this kind of configuration and trust me the bandwith cost is monitored to the T. A T1 will cost you over $2000 for a frame-relay circuit. In short, what I'm saying is figure out exactly how much bandwidth you think you're currently using and how much you think you'll need. Make arrangement with a hosting company to allow you to burst up occationally and have a reduced amount over your reguler usage. You'll have to do this with a written contract and usally a long term contract.

Good luck
