View Full Version : Dathorn Support
I can't see why everyone seems to think that Dathorn support (and this guy Andrew) is so great! I opened an account with him a couple of days ago, and my welcome email did NOT have the IP's in it (so I could setup my nameservers) But he insisted they were there, and told me that I should go read my email better! So I sent him the email to show him they weren't there, and he responded: You will be sent the IP info. you need soon as possible. But he never sent it to me, he did put them in the copy of the welcome letter in the control panel, but without notifying me, and being that he did make the mistake he could of at least emailed them to me.
Then yesterday I sent a ticket asking him if I could use a copy of his TOS (all my other hosts let me use theirs) but he never even responded, he just closed the ticket! (Could of at least said NO!) So I don't know what I'm going to do now because I don't have my own TOS and I don't really know were I can get one?
I don't know Man, but this guy (Andrew) seems to have an attitude or something? As of right now I think I'm sorry I opened an account with Dathorn! But I think I'll ride out my month and see what happens, I have an another account at Cybrisk and their service and support is pretty good (at least they respond to you!) and they let me use their TOS!

I apologized for the IP issue, for that was my mistake. I updated the database correctly and then told you that you could view the correct IPs in the new welcome e-mail.
Regarding the ToS, I believe you asked if you could use ours, to which I said yes of course and simply closed the ticket. You can view your closed tickets and confirm this if you like. If it did get closed without a response then it was purely a mistake.
phisholay 09-18-2003, 09:54 AM Yea Andrew does have an attitude. I still havent manage to setup my own dns server name. i have ask the wrong questions before and by my mistakes i ask for an IP as i thought its what i need.
ns1.GZO.com ns2.GZO.com i been meaning to set up like this. ns1.myownname.com ns2.myownnmae.com But apperantly, Andrew isn't very helpfull with this, puts me on a round around until i finally gave up.
You would figure that as a reseller, it would be one of the most requested on how to setup your very own Nameserver and it should have an easier way to find this answere or perhaps a tutorial on this. anyways, like i said i have given up on that part.
The support is an average and NOT great as what some people would say, at times it's relatively fast, but the quality of the answere is poor or it takes you to a round a round where i would mostlikely either do a Google seach, visit its forum and ask the members or check out other reseller forums for answeres.
He's favorite answere (and unfortunatly, others too) is...
"This has been discuss before"
Can't or wont answere or point to the right direction, don't reply. *gosh i hate that "this has been discuss before"
I have been there since late April and got a second account last month, but i will be cancelling the second as i dont needed it anymore.
Overall i think Dathorn is okay or okay enough for me.:)
Server uptime: above average
Support: I tend to not ask any, but it's an average. Fast most of the time, but watered down.;)
Price: okiedokie:D
Overall Rating: 6.9
ThePrimeHost 09-18-2003, 10:27 AM This is certainly a different kind of thread. 90% of Dathorn related threads are positive.
Kind Regards,

CrazyTech 09-18-2003, 10:34 AM Well each and every company will have a % of those unhappy with the services. I do admit it is interesting to see such a thread with Dathorn's usually good name, but it's understandable. I wish the customers luck and the good thing is with the reliability, you won't have to rely on the Support too much at all ;)

This is ok. You need some negative in there amongst the positive. This will give some indication of reality, as nothing in life is 100% positive. :)
jablunka 09-18-2003, 10:57 AM A natural progression in all companies with a very positive image, this is to be expected, it is impossible to expect 100% positives all the time, at least with Dathorn, they have responded here and these issues are fairly minor in the big scheme of things.
From their reputation i would agree with VNPIXEL, come back in a months time and tell us about them, from what i have read about Dathorn i expect that you will be happy.

Ok, let just say thing's got off on the wrong foot, no problem!
I have read a lot of good threads about Dathorn in these forums, so I am sure the rest of my stay at Dathorn will be great!
Thanks for letting me use your TOS!

As has been said many times before, we do not do any kind of hold handing. Are accounts are targeted towards experienced users or those that are actually willing to learn the ropes. There is a ton of information available in the welcome e-mail, the help software that we provide a link to in the welcome e-mail, and most of all our forums where anyone will help you if you ask nicely.

Andrew
I would like to apologize for the mixup, I now see you did responded to my trouble ticket in the control panel! Your ticket system is different the one's I am used too, and I never got the email to your 09/16/03 @ 09:06 AM CDT response, so I didn't know that you had responded to me.
Again, sorry for the mixup!

ChrisTech 09-18-2003, 07:29 PM Andrew usually responds to your trouble ticket within 15 min or less of posting it. First time I posted a trouble ticket, I went back and saw it was closed allready I was ticked, then I realized he had allready fixed the issue and closed the ticket. Speedy answers, helpful forums, good service, low cost. Just got my 2nd account a couple weeks ago on the server in St. Louis, MO.
Dathorn = Thumbs up...great service!
BTW:
I have had 1 account since March, and just got the other one a couple weeks ago.

I believe Andrew runs Dathorn solely. Therefore he does need to sleep, he does need to go out to the shop, he does need to spend time working on complex issues that take longer than 15 minutes, he does need to spend time administrating servers, he does need to spend time on his site, he does need time to develop new services and he does need time to post on his own forum as well as WHT.
And he still responds to tickets within 15 minutes - WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

According to other posts on WHT, he has a support staff.
efarmer 09-18-2003, 09:16 PM Andrew is not human, he is a machine.
I believe he has someone else answering tickets for him when he recharges himself.
He answers the tickets very fast and closes them but not discarded, you can view them. It may not be the answer you want but real fast.

That is correct. Otherwise I might be currently enrolled at a mental institution ;)

Well, what I said to the nurse was, as long as I have ADSL access and my 22" LCD monitor, all is sweet. :D :eek2:
denim 09-19-2003, 04:10 AM To speak, that Dathorn Support is brilliant, can only people
which don't have base for comparison or it is their first hosting account in life!
The same can be told and about quality of their services!
When that, right at the beginning, when Dathorn the beginnings
to sell is was so!
Unfortunately for a long time Andrew overjump the own
opportunities!
parkinghost 09-19-2003, 05:37 AM I am just curious, how many tech support staffs Dathorn have now?

It does not matters, as long as the support tickets are answered.
Have been with Dathorn a few months now (3 to be exact). Support is definitely awesome, normally takes less than 20 minutes till I get a response

I second that !
I have had 1 account since April, and just got the other one in August.
Moreover, it is far from being my first hosting accounts.
musafir 09-20-2003, 07:01 PM I had been Dathorn for almost 9 month. As you all agree, the best review must come from a customer that have used the service more than 6 months. What i can say is that Dathorn make me happy and help me along the way.
I feel secure with Dathorn and i know that my account is in a good hand - DATHORN!
*I had experienced a numbers of hosting company before and nothing can beat Dathorn. :o

Actually Dathorn is my 6th host, not including dedicated server providers. Has faster support than any of my other hosts have had, has better uptime than the other hosts too.
I'm happy with his services, as are all those whose sites I host with my reseller account.
