I'm having a problem with inetd using up anywhere from 75-95% of the cpu. This is on a Red Hat 6.2 machine with WHM/Cpanel.
Does anyone know what could cause this? I couldn't imagine what it could be, except for maybe some sort of ddos attack.

Well, I do not know how to connect to inet directly, so the only way I can think of is to connect to it via one of the programs it runs. If it is dos attack, try xinetd

Do you know how to upgrade to xinetd? I've never done that before.

Well, it looks like the disaster may be over. I did some poking around, and found a user using some irc bots, and they were creating some really unusual processes. So, we booted them and restarted inetd, and it seems to be holding steady at 0.0% cpu.
