View Full Version : Ev1servers.net colour scheme
Tazzman 09-17-2003, 06:09 PM I was just wondering what you thought of the new colour scheme of the ev1servers/rackshack.net site. I personally think that yellow is one of the worst colours they could have chosen. I think it just makes it look cheap :unhappy:
I didn't see this discussed anywhere else on a quick glance, so sorry if it was.
protecweb 09-17-2003, 06:16 PM The logo needs re-optimising as well. Its lost all its sharpness.
Cirtex 09-17-2003, 06:22 PM They need to make it Green :D
Though, Yellow is fine for me, probably not too easy on the eyes for some people though.
dbbrock1 09-17-2003, 06:22 PM I like the yellow/blue colour scheme :)
Stephen 09-17-2003, 06:24 PM its better than the old rackshack site lets just put it and keep it at that :)
Don't know why they use this ugly design  Why not to buy $25 template for this site? Will be more attractive.
Olternit 09-17-2003, 06:43 PM Ewwwwwww! It looks horrible.

Web Rhino 09-17-2003, 06:51 PM The site is okay, but-IMHO- not what fits the name of rachshack, at all.
Tazzman 09-17-2003, 06:55 PM I've never had a great love for the RS site, but the colour scheme was easy on the eye and it was quite functional. I would have given it 7/10 before they changed it. Now I think I'd have to mark it at 4/10.
Blue and yellow do mix well, but the yellow is so dominant and it isn't very easy on the eyes either.
IGobyTerry 09-17-2003, 07:17 PM ahh... what an ugly site. You'd think for the money they have they'd have someone a very nice design.
Ed_Case 09-17-2003, 07:44 PM Thats a bit rough on the old eyes allright. The color scheme is the type of thing normally found on webpagesthatsuck.com
Kimmikat 09-17-2003, 07:48 PM It needs a little more blue in there and toss the Yellow Colour. If they wanted an example of a design or template, they should've took a look at enhancedhost.com, which was recently redesigned and looks good. Or using a colour scheme simular to this forum would've looked nice.
I kinda like the old rackshack.net name though.
dapon 09-17-2003, 08:01 PM Oh man, somebody stab me in the eye with a icepick and end my pain!
rooshine 09-17-2003, 08:19 PM Clearly, ev1servers/rackshack has done just fine without my advice thus far. But if they ask me, I'd tell them their current site design looks amateurish. Not worthy of their reputation.
SilveR_Pixel 09-17-2003, 08:48 PM personally i like it. :)
NickRac 09-17-2003, 08:51 PM yellow.bad=true

Coke was the number one soft drink in the world but they still screwed up and came out with new Coke. They could of used input before they made that blunder.
Being successful doesn't make you imune from stupid decisions.
JWise 09-17-2003, 10:28 PM I don't think the website is that bad. Its alright, but then again, its not alright.. But honestly, I don't think its a BIG difference.
Rich2k 09-18-2003, 05:12 AM The one thing they REALLY need to do is put height and width's on their images. It would render the page so much faster and not make it jump all around the browser window whilst loading.
In IE it's halfway off the right hand edge of the page until one of the images has loaded.
TheDoctor 09-18-2003, 05:27 AM Not bad for a small company just starting out, however the picture of the live support seems a bit ordinary, seems everybody are using similiar photos and I am not sure about the dude with the brief case ... potential webmaster perhaps
Doc
justwandr 09-18-2003, 05:35 AM i personally think its ugly! some one did already said even $25 template looks better. plus while loading the site its half way right for me as well
Zopester 09-18-2003, 06:50 AM Keeping my own subjective "good" and "bad" opinions out of the equation, I am reminded - somewhat worryingly for me, because it suggests my mind works in weird ways - of the Warner Bros theme tune and title sequence for old Bugs/Daffy cartoons. Maybe it's the logo.
That is probably...no, definitely, just me! :)
Jeffreyw 09-18-2003, 08:11 AM I really like their new design!
richy 09-18-2003, 11:23 AM that yellow gives me serious eye pains. Ive never ever got that before but I just cant browse their forums. I really would suggest whatever designer they hired actually learn a little about the concepts of HCI rather then going with their personal likes. Human-Computer Interaction by Jenny Preece et al would be a good start point and is required reading by pretty much any designer who wishes to produce commercial work. Unfortunately many designers think that just because they like something fundamental HCI concepts dont apply to them.
Ed_Case 09-25-2003, 01:36 AM I think these guys had a hand in the design.

LiveRack 09-25-2003, 01:38 AM Yellow is not a bad color if used correctly but when I first saw the new design for RS, I wanted to puke.
