I was wondering, if i have a hosting package where my domain is www.anything.com, then if i get a domain pointer, say www.mysite.com, and point it at mysite.anything.com, would every visitor who goes to www.mysite.com be redirected to mysite.anything.com, or would the contents of mysite.anything.com just show up as www.mysite.com (eg, mysite.anything.com/test/ would show up as www.mysite.com/test) ?

Hence, is a domain pointer the same as having 2 (or more) domains for a hosting package?

It depends on how your host sets it up. It could be either way, you'll just have to request it the way you want it.
