I found google's image search thing today. I was looking for a 30 day money back logo. Anyhow i founf plenty from it. I thought at first it was a gallery of images, but then when I searched I relized they were stright from peoples web sites. I dont want to steal any images, especially ones made on their own for that site. Anyone know if those images are submitted or just found by google by spiders?

You reminded me to search for an image that's on my site, which Google indexed a few months ago. I didn't find it by searching for the text in my alt tag, so I guess it's not there. Sounds like people submit them, but if so, then it shouldn't be hard to find information on how to submit an image. Either way, you need to get permission from the webmaster before using one. Google says so.

Go to the front page, then click on Advanced Search

Or go here: http://www.google.com/advanced_search

It's the second header on the page ("Image Search (BETA)").

I love image search a lot but they need to find a way to censor all images that might be disturbing to children lest they see such tasteless imagery. Imagine if a 15-year-old saw an innapropiate image! I don't think it is Google's right to subject us to such anarchy.

Speaking of Google.com did you know that they are about to open a version in Hebrew? in Israel! http://www.google.co.il in a few weeks.

If they will partner or will be acquired by Yahoo.com they will be the best portal on the internet. They are the best search engine that's for sure.

I believe all the images on the Google Image search are indexed by a spider and not submitted. Kinda like the Altavista Image search i think...

UGH. I really hope Google will never become a portal.

Have you noticed how most search engines now aren't search engines, but portals? We have Excite, Altavista, Yahoo, and so many more I don't even want to start naming them.

I love Google because it is simple and effective, not because it has flashy images and broken navigation, like most other portals. If I want to search I will use Google (note: I use MS's QuickSearch.exe plugin so I can type "g query" and it searches Google - very neat!) If I want news I will go to nytimes.com. If I want to find out my weather I will go to Weather.com. I suspect most people will agree with me.

Quick poll...how many people use a portal? I do, and I call it "about:blank".

Nope, they are a search engine, not a portal, to become one they'll have to start showing world news, offering email services etc,
