Hey everyone,
I've been throwing some ideas around the past couple of... Weeks. As some of you already know, i'm going to be leaping into the flooded hosting market, and going to do my best to succeed in it. Not just with cash but a good reputation with you people, because that's what matters *cheap salesman smile*.
Anyway, to the point of this message, before I tell you my life story, i've put together a Donhost-like reseller plan. I've found that lot's of people, and I, prefer getting the 'bulk' reseller accounts, and selling accounts off from a 'supply.' I'm not planning on letting you people have access to my infinite GB HD or my OC-Unlimited, but i'm going to try offer something realistic.
Here's how it goes, you'd be sharing a dedicated server with around 5~ resellers, or more if we offer lower end reseller packages, but making sure to keep the server running smooth and not packing it with huge amounts of domains.
As for the plan, this is what I/we've come up with.

- 8 GB storage
- 50gb Bandwidth monthly, $1.50 per GB over limit.
- PHP4 w/Zend
- MySQL Databases
- Apache:ASP (www.apache-asp.org)
- ColdFusion 5
- IP's on request, no limits as such, just need to go by Arin rules.
- SSI, SSL, SSH Secure Shell access
- Subdomains
- Unmetered Pop3/Forwarders/Autoresponders/Lists
- Plesk PSA 2.0 (Private label control panel, lots of features, very clean and easy to use)
- Perl/CGI
- Frontpage Extensions
- Passworded Directories
- Anonymous FTP accounts
- FTP accounts
- Personalized Nameservers

$100 Monthly.

Is there anything you think I have missed out?

Stats on the server and connectivity, so far the plans are to co-locate at E.Freeservers, who's parent company is E.Continents. Their connectivity seems great, I get good pings and low-hop traceroutes, they have Level(3), Telseon, and at E.Continents they say Qwest too. I am not sure if Qwest is used by EFS but i'd assume so.
The server, as planned is to be a; Dual P-III 1Ghz, 1024mb Ram, 10,000 RPM IBM SCSI Ultra-160 Hard Disk(s), Tyan Mainboard (Very reliable server mainboards) and the usual other parts, which as I mentioned before would be shared by 5~ resellers, depending on the load they use. As you can see they are very powerful machines, resellers could definitely boast about, and have a good reassurance that they are on a reliable server.

Anyway, I had best be off.
I'm looking forward to seeing the feedback!
(Yes, that is a prompt to reply with your opinion, now.... Please :) )

Is this NT (NT4/2000) or Unix/Linux?

Heya,
This plan would be on Linux servers. Probably Redhat 7.1 or FreeBSD.

Well, the offer looks complete. It seems to me that 100$ is on the edge of what people would be prepared to pay because you can get a low end dedicated server for that amount of money. But since you would actually be managing the servers, your offer is affordable too.

Do you happen to have a release date yet? Web page already set up...? If your services prove to be reliable, my guess is that you will have a great business future.

By posting here, you already got yourself a nice customer base... But hurry with your plans. The idea is a good one and somebody might do it before you do. I mean, look how many people ask for other servers such as Donhost... A good market niche.

Ales

p.s.
How many servers can you set up in a day? Be prepared... :D

I dont have a release date, and I can wack up a page in no time. I'll get straight to it and keep you guys posted!
