What is daily datatransfer of the server.

I've heard it's a Dual P3 - 700Mhz with 256 RAM
and around 40-50GB traffic

Dedicated and jolly, 40-60-ish per month, not per day :D I don't have exact figures, it has been posted before, but surely has changed since then. Email sysop for current stats.

Are you running this site at a loss or do you have some kind of sponsorship that meets (or exceeds) your cost?

A while ago they were given a dedicated server by voxel.net, see the logo in the very bottom right hand corner, that leads to a hosting billing software site owned by voxel net.

Nice arrangement, we get a fast forum without being hammered by adverts.

that's fine but matt started some advertisement campaign on this web site and shut it down.

Back way back then, I can't recall. Maybe Matt asked, and I emailed saying I'd be happy to, or he put out a general announcement, and I replied.

Currently, new mods were chosen based on number of posts, quality of those posts, and non-affiliation with hosting companies.

http://www.voxel.net 's http://www.ubersmith.com product graciously sponsor's the forum and provides the hardware and needed bandwidth for the site.

Moderators do not get paid, though if Matt or anyone else offered me $40K/yr. to mod a forum I'd quit my day job. :D

There isn't one really far as I can tell. I won't say we're non-profit (as that almost got me in trouble last time). *Currently* we're non-profit (is that better?) :D

Doesn't seem so at the moment, though this won't be the only site Matt's going to have up (maybe for the other site, maybe in the future for this site). best to email sysop (link below, bottom left) and express interest. You may not hear back for some time, but at least he'll have your email.

With regards to bandwidth, I believe we're transferring anywhere between 3-4 GB per day without mod_gzip.

I'm just curious....how many hours do you spend on here a day Chicken?
