View Full Version : Any Rackshack.Net alternative found?
Kivin 09-11-2003, 06:00 AM Dear WebHostingTalk Visitors,
I am looking to buy at least 4 servers with such configuration:
dual xeon
1 gb ram
_minimum 1000GB BW for each_
Rackshack has exactly this and they offer it for $264/month or someting like that (below $300 actually) and I have already ordered 10 during last months... But already a week no servers avialable there, they are sold out :)
The question is does anyone know any good alternative? :)
The main aspects described before, but here is some advantages that will be cool :)
1) Instant setup (just kidding, but rackshack do :)
2) APC Reboot (Such thing as Server4You has will be great too.. :)
3) Good support :)
4) Resellers discounts :)
Thx for any suggestions! :)
sprintserve 09-11-2003, 06:22 AM I guess at those specs and prices, you can try www.nocster.com
Kivin 09-11-2003, 06:24 AM hmmm really interesting! :) thx a lot, i was looking for that! will order 2 and we'll see :) will post my review here :)
Kivin 09-11-2003, 07:42 AM Hmm actually they have quite high setup prices, but ok :)
More suggestions?
sprintserve 09-11-2003, 07:45 AM well if you stay a few months, you will easily recoup it from the lower monthly fees, and in recent months, they seem to be earning rave reviews (save the slow setup timeS)
Kivin 09-11-2003, 08:08 AM No, it's okay :) I just want to compare :) Or only two? Nocster & Rackshack? :)
Tazzman 09-11-2003, 09:52 AM Buy them via a Nocster reseller, you might be able to knock about20% off the setup and montly fees if the reseller doesn't maintain too much of a margin.
There was even something posted here that large volume resellers can get up to 50% off the setup fee, though I don't know how much truth is behind that.
Xenos 09-11-2003, 09:59 AM xAngelx is selling that server for a discounted setup and monthly price at http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=185597
You can also check with MainArea to see what they can do. Both are Nocster resellers.
wubwob 09-11-2003, 10:26 AM Wouldnt go for a reseller tbh - ive seen storys of resllers not paying bills etc.. and svrs being shut down.
Check out servermatrix.net/theplanet.net - heard some good stuff about them.

That's why I suggested xAngelx and MainArea because they are well regarded Nocster resellers. I also recommend ServerMatrix/ThePlanet. I have servers with both.
Angel78 09-11-2003, 11:47 AM Servernatrix has Xeons and when you add 512 MB (to get 1 gb of ram) and cpanel with 750 GB they cost 270 $

Yes, their upgrade fees are horrible. I would only purchase another server from there if the base specs met my needs.

Incognito 09-11-2003, 01:52 PM Gnax/Dv2/Tranxactglobal has what you are looking for including WHM/CPanel at $299 with no setup. Excellent deal and excellent service.
Check out http://www.velcom.com/
x86brandon 09-11-2003, 04:21 PM that looks like a rackshack reseller... screw that :-p
roundice 09-11-2003, 04:40 PM I think Nocster is a good alternative. You might be able to find an even better deal through a reputable Nocster reseller like Mainarea.
Hi Kivin,
I just noticed that Superb Servers (http://www.superbservers.net) is now offering dual Xeon 2.4 GHz servers with 1 GB registered DDR, 2x 80 GB HDs and 1000 GB/month. It sounds right up your alley =) I'd highly recommend them. I've had a server there for a while, and it's been stable and very good performing. Their extensive peering is what mainly convinced me.
Hope this helps...
Its not a RexT resller, if you check IP Blocks and so forth you can see very easily its not a Rackshack reseller.
they have their own connectivity and they reside in a new york with carriers from mfn, C&W, XO Comm, William Communications and others.
