Whats the fun in making a movie when you have to put a big disclaimer up that says don't try this.. Its a movie!

I think this sueing stuff is getting out of hand.

I thought the exact same thing untill I read the entire thing.

"Monday's lawsuit mentions one legal action brought by a Wisconsin adult who became paralyzed after diving onto the slide while intoxicated. The plaintiff in that case was awarded $12.3 million in damages, according to Monday's lawsuit. "

If I had gotten sued for 12.3 Million because someone did that I'd be pissed too. That's what's getting out of hand. People who are stupid and expect to be payed for it.

I don't think the man should have won the trial.

How do you paralyze yourself diving onto a Slip N' Slide?!

Maybe they shot him from a cannon aimed at the Slip N' Slide?

Meh, who knows.

People should not be awarded money for getting drunk and running at a Slip N' Slide.

HINT: It's the water that makes it "slip" and "slide".

Logic says the drunk nut shouldn't have been awarded a single penny for being a baffoon. However, the joke is on those of us who think logic has any resemblence to reality.

You can't ask the law makers to change the very thing that keeps their pockets lined in gold, keeps the judges employed, and the most illogical argument of the bunch: takes money from corporate America and puts it back into circulation -- therefore, it must be good for the economy!

It's really unfortunate that we have to pay for idiots who recieve huge legal claims because they were too drunk and/or stupid not to go head first onto a Slip n Slide.
No wonder insurance rates are astronomical.

I don't understand the 12.5 lawsuit, nor this one. To me, the 12.5 million dollar suit says to me that I can get blitheringly drunk, then try to 'slide' down the street and collect my 12.5 million from the city. Likewise, one could get drunk, drive a car into a tree and sue the car maker for 12.5 million. It just doesn't make sense.

The other, more recent suit doesn't make sense either. Has anyone been to the circus? Seen clowns riding on tricycles? I don't think that's their intended use and who knows... I may decide to put on an orange wig and red nose and try that at home. Yep, that'll get me at least a few million from the maker of the tricycle, maybe even a few more from the circus, plus one or two million from the Clown Association (if there's such a thing).

... And if I were DRUNK! Whooooooo -weeeeeee! Cha-Ching!

If you can go to jail for killing someone while under the influence, that makes no sense at all if that guy won that lawsuit. Basically what they were saying was he couldn't control has actions because he was drunk, which was also an excuse in the old days when killing someone when drunk.

Good point dbbrock1. But who's going to listen?
The judges are pathetically liberal and the lawyers are scum.

right up there with the astronomical lawsuits that are awarded to those idiots who sue gun makers for some cracked out person killing a liquor store owner.... its not the item that kills or hurts..its the individual using said item............

whats next? I label on all items that say: "Caution: Using this product while intoxicated and being stupid can lead to death or injury"

Some things are pretty dumb. It amazes me that people can actually win cases like that.

Hmm. I need to get injured, then profit from it. :D

I don't know the case, but the article probably isn't being completely "open" about the truth... I'd guess that Wham-O settled the 12.2 million instead of going through a court battle...
That being said, comments like "pathetically liberal" without knowing the background of the case is fairly naive... Judges rule based on the law, and we don't even know if Wham-O had the "disclaimer" on their package at the time of the lawsuit.
