I am looking for people to put better ways that RIAA could stop p2p rather than suing hundreds upon thousands of people?

One Idea would be this: Sue the companys that make the p2p software.

Other Good things for RIAA to come out of this idea: Less Money in lawsuits.

...

Or if people didn't use the p2p applications in the first place we wouldn't be in this situation.

They tried that first. How do you think Napster got shut down? These new guys like Kazaa can't be touched. That didn't work...this won't work either. At some point or another this is all going to backfire in their faces.

Well, I work for the IT people on my college campus, and rumor has it that several universities are working deals with the RIAA to provide pay for download sites like Apple Itunes and Buymusic.com.

They raise the student services fees by $2 or so, and all the students can download all the songs they want for free.

Sounds like more of a way for a university to cover their arse.

I don't believe that is the case, however, it doesn't matter. The fact is, they've tried to sue the FastTrack people and they can't win. They did that first and it failed. Now, they're going after individuals. That will fail too. It'll just take some time.

Too many voters drive over the speed limit and drive while intoxicated too. It doesn't make it right or legal.

Get new leadership in the RIAA that will embrace the net, not fight it. The next thing that the RIAA Taliban may do is go after the used CD stores...

lol, they might even try to sue WHT for voicing their own opinions on the RIAA
