I just signed up with Site5 on Tuesday, and already I am rather uncomfortable with their service. To take an outage so soon might be an omen to get out while my 30 day refund is still in effect.

They also advertise that they use the Akopia shopping cart, however this is not true.

Talk about bad luck, I am also a former ***** customer, what a bad experience that was. So before I go about switching providers does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks!!

I haven't used them; but I've noticed that there always seems to be positive comments on them around here.
If you just signed up on Tuesday, you might want to hang in there awhile and give them a real good look over.
Write their support team and voice your concerns. Analize how they respond to your inquiries and then decide.

Just my thoughts:rolleyes:

The current outages are being experienced by hosts based at the NAC datacentre so you're not alone... (my host is suffering from the same thing)

I believe communication has been noted as somewhat lacking but hopefully that will improve... Hope that helps settle that sinking feeling somewhat.

Hostiva has a lot of features and reasonable prices, I will keep them in mind.

oh
stay the heck away from site5.com

they had the nerve to ask to leave their service because my site ate up to 20 gigs of bandwidth yet they offered me 25!!!

eventaully, with many rude emails from bothsides I got my money back.

big sites should stay away.

I guess it's the following thread explaining why they asked you to leave => http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=7595&perpage=20&pagenumber=1

Can't say anything negative about Site5. They had some downtime last week due to NAC troubles, but that's over. Their support was and is very helpful.

Don't complain too much, at least they asked you. Alot of people have sites, that eat up lots of bandwidth, but I bet they asked you to leave due to CPU usage. I am entirely frustrated with all these people puting there huge sites on a $40 plan an being upset when a company asks to put them on a dedicated server or asks them to move. You have to pay the piper...

Well if the only reason they asked you to leave is because of bandwidth That just shows they play the odds with the bandwidth offered in their plans.Tho like ckiser said and Id have to agree Id assume it may have also been CPU usage

As has been said above, and in the thread posted, I think you're leaving out a few things. I noticed the domain is on currently on CAN-HOST but that it isn't up (redirected to another site).

Big, resource demanding sites are not suitable for shared hosting unfortunately.

I wouldn't recommend site5 to anyone after my experience with them. I signed up, got one site up and running, and their Control Panel went down. I still had 3 more domains to move and couldn't. After a few emails, I was told it would be at least another week and I had to get these sites up. I decided that I had to move once again, and asked for my money back (30 day money back ) I was there less than 2 weeks. I felt I was really ripped off when I got less than HALF of the $180 I had paid for their hosting.. never again.

I had the same problems with Site5 - though they seemingly offered lots of bandwidth for a low price, I didn't even use it all and they removed me from the service - never giving me my money back. What a complete waiste of time.
