The RIAA has sued over 261 people so far, and they predict it can go into the thousands. How stupid is that? I personally dont like the RIAA.

Yes, people should pay for D/Ling, but the there's better ways to handle the issue then sue.

I am not sure this discussion was talked about on another forum I really dont know that much just heard what they where saying.

To all those that have asked me, "really?", the answer is yes, really. In other words, the RIAA has decided to offer 'amnesty' from your file trading past if you're willing to delete all illegally obtained music files from your PC, destroy all CD-R's containing said files, and promise (apparently via an on-line form) never to engage in illegal file trading again :)

Axi don't encourage people to! It's my opinion (not opinion so don't quote me!) that the RIAA won't sue you, but it doesn't mention any other companies. Plus if they do take you to court, they have all the evidence they would need to have a snappy 30 minute trial.

Also, I know that most people thing its illegal and all that jazz, but the RIAA is going way to crazy over this whole thing! They even sued a little 12 year old girl (who thought she paid for the service) and a 71 year old man (who didn't d/l any songs btw). Now c'mon, they broke the law sure, but I mean both didn't know what they were doing.

I also firmly believe that they should'nt be able to sure you for putting files up for others to d/l. If you hold the CD, and the d/ler does have one, then there should be no problem. Not everyone knows how to convert CD's to MP3's for their players. If the d/ler does not own the CD, then sue them!

Yeah, I told you not to quote me but someone will. I'll tell you this though, I do not have ANY MP3's on my computer, or even a p2p network for that matter.

Ahhhh the joys of living in the UK, RIAA can't touch me here :) No royalties to pay for internet radio or anything similar :)

The way it sounds like to me is, RIAA picks a person, takes the person to court and wins,...How about people who challenge RIAAA it can't be that quick to be found guilty, how about an appeal. Don't admit to guilt because you're scared, challenge them and see what the fuzz is all about....Umm, counter sue afterwards?

I wonder... All 261 people they are sueing, I wonder if their all financially healthy. You know, maybe they found out who they were, knew they had some money and went for them.. maybe.. the RIAA could be a mob. haha, you never know.

One thing I do not understand. Far more destructive than sharing/downloading music, is donwloading and sharing ILLEGAL software and programs.

Companies lose billions on these .. how come no one is taking THAT aspect more in the red than this 12 year old Dorthy from the Wizrard of MP3 sharing ?


Vote these NAZIS out of power .. RIAA should NOT be given extra powers.

RIAA are going a bit far with this.. people could counter-sue them for invasion of privacy..

A few senators are on our side... but most especially from cali and western states are not.
