I am trying to find the cheapest BANDWIDTH co-location provider. Affordablecolo.com is 2.00 per gig, yikes. Burst is high, but as you buy more, it gets cheaper... What is the cheapest one out there? Any for like a buck or less a GB? Thank you soooo much! :)

P.S.-How do these hosting companies (some) offer so much. I know that most people don't use near that much, but the ones that do, how do they make a profit?

:D

I would say for that type of quality bandwidth (BGP routed, multi-peered) you are getting from Affordablecolo, $2/gigabyte is one of the lowest I have seen, taking quality into consideration.

Of course you could also go with Cogent based providers... :erm:

Cheers

I'm not sure yet. How about 100 and 200 and 500GB. (For when I need more bandwidth.)

THis offer looked pretty good, and its in San Francisco (I live in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles County), its only like 350 miles or so to the datacenter, so I could go there and do a lot of upgrades, etc. there. I know that many miles sounds like a lot, but compared to New Jersey, Pennsylvania, etc., its nothin. I emailed them about this great offer, because I read in the TOS this:

I see this is the agreement:

Restrictions: Egg-Drop, Shell Hosting, and IRC.
Does that mean we can't give our clients shell access? Please explain. Also, I have 24x7 access to the datacenter? What kind of security do you have?

This is the response I get:

Hi Kyle,

Welcome to E.FreeServers and thank you for your interest in our company. It depends on the people getting shell privilege. If it's your server administrator or someone you trust, then there's no problem. But if you're giving shell access to virtually everyone who ask, then we consider that shell hosting which is something that we don't accept due to network security reasons. As for your other question, access to the data center is available 24/7/365. We just for you to call in advance so that one of our staff will be their to escort you in. This facility has guards on duty 24/7/365, surveillance camera everywhere, badge access, and biometric scanner to ensure maximum security.

I just emailed them back and asked if I require the faxing of picture id is ok for my customers, so they could get it. I think the only reason you wouldn't have shell access is because there (customers) were mostly newbies. Most of the people I would host would need shell access. Anyone have any more ideas with good cheap bandwidth?
