My IT person and I were discussing the idea since we get our servers custom built that we should maybe start selling them
Overall we get 1U- 4U rack servers in the Sub 1k range on up too several thousands with name brand parts.
We are in development for possible clients to come, pay 1/3 to 1/2 down and pay the remaining balance out over a year, in which time the server is no longer owned by us.
I wanted to get some feedback about this idea and what others think
Overall we think we can save people some money, and help many out

That is a great idea. But do you require people to host the server with you?

To be honest hosting with us is a option, but you can host it anywhere you would like.
The only restriction is you are under contract to pay for the server.
The only service we present is the ability to get a top server, at a affordable price.
Overall we have more in depth ideas about this matter, but we can ship this server anywhere in the continental US.
We are still working out the details, but over the next 2 weeks should have a solid foundation

i think you should at least offer to ship to canada, if the extra fees are paid.
is that a problem?

Ok,
How about this, since your paying for shipping anyway, we will have it shipped where ever you like.
We will limit it too the continent of North America.
Overall my IT person has way too much time to think about different ways to spend my money.
In regards to Hosting. You can have it sent too either of the 2 datacenters we use or send it where ever you like, there are no limitations.....
Mostly we can have built anything with in reason.

The overall intensions of this is for companies to gain assets that will look good on the balance sheet. Regardless of the depreciation value of technology, owning generates assets, leasing and or renting dedicated servers gains no asset on the balance sheet.
This will help companies gain capital and strength and if at any time try to sell offer more marketability.
In the end we are still working out the details but we hope this offers a way for companies to gain strength, and not take on huge debts with no value....
We are also looking at getting control panels at cheaper prices to package in and many different avenues, just when i thought i had enough work, my IT person gives me more
