Does register.com have a web-based utility to manage your info? If so, you should have an entry there somewhere to add your nameservers. Otherwise it might have to be accomplished by email.

Many registrars use a standard form which offers nameserver setup. With my registrar I just enter ns.whatever.com and it does a reverse lookup of the IP and stores it.

Dana,

1. At the http://www.register.com homepage, in the left column click on MANAGE MY ACCOUNT.

2. You will be transported to Register.com's Domain Manager page.

3. Enter your User Name, Password and Domain Name.

4. on the page that opens, click on MODIFY DNS.

5. You will see that the subsequent page allows you to input your nameserver information. Just follow the directions which are very clearly mentioned on the subsequent pages after that.

NOTE: You will have to delete your old nameserver information first (by checking the tick boxes next to them), before you input your new nameserver information.

Another option you have if your web hosting company has partnered with Register.com is to let them do it for you.

Either way, if you run a WhoIs query immediately after changing your nameserver information at the register.com site... your new nameserver information shows up immediately at their site.

Regarding your new nameserver info being propagated on the net, i think it will take about 36 to 48 hours max.

Hope this helps.
