View Full Version : Heres a laugh for you
Cyberpunk 08-15-2001, 06:18 PM Translate this! :D :D
http://www.webshite.com
I just came across it again, found it some time ago when I thought I might like to register it for a domain name for a laugh, only to find someone had already got it.
LOL
coolguy23 08-15-2001, 06:21 PM i'm guessing it means website in a different language and it is a web design site...
Colin 08-15-2001, 07:02 PM Allow me to attempt a translation of the first couple of sentences...
*Tricia McGillis
Tricia was formerly Design Director of Third Age (or is it "Eye"?) Media, the most comprehensive source of content, community and commerce for seniors on the Web.*
Sounds about right?
TrouT 08-15-2001, 07:16 PM Someone get me the "Slacker's quide to text"
Cyberpunk 08-15-2001, 09:20 PM Yeah, as far as I can tell its a resume site for 3 webdesigners.
Theyre actulally pretty accoplished, one has comments about helping develop dreamweaver.
Its jibberish, but I think its hilarious, mabye thats just me :D
Lawrence 08-16-2001, 01:31 AM I was thinking that perhaps it was supposed to be a a misspelling (to get a domain name) of "Web's Height" or something like that? But then I realised it was another language, so I'm not sure now (not that I ever really was sure, it was just an idea).
mahinder 08-17-2001, 06:24 PM by the way what is the language used on the web site ?
valkaryn 08-17-2001, 08:06 PM I do believe that that there is a bonafide example of the secret geek language that Cal students are apt to do on a given whim.
They did have me going and I may still eat my words. But I'll bet a buck it's their joke site. If you noticed they all studied in San Francisco and at Berkley.
Silliness.
WoodShedd 08-18-2001, 12:51 AM Ees foony buttt eye kud haffe mayde baytur eyoos uv de nem.

Tally-Ho 03-17-2004, 03:04 PM • Ahh... I can actually help here!
"shite" is the spelling/pronounciation given by Scottish people to a common swearword that would normally be used without the "e". English and other people in the know also use this form. The usage (if you like) defangs the swearword, allowing for relatively indiscriminate use.
If you ever go to Scotland you must know this one. It will stop the locals labelling you as a dumb tourist.
Yours,
James (born & bred in Shiteland)
