I remember a while ago I was reading a old "complete guide to the internet". I remember a section of it mention it that there are some public servers that will download a file for you and email it to you as an attachment.
I could not seems to find server like this. Does anyone know of this?
Are they all extincted? Or did my memory erred again?
Thanks,
Peter

The reason why I posted here is because I can't remember.
Peter
The one I used to use many years ago was
ftpmail@src.doc.ic.ac.uk
I wouldn't know whether it still works.

Any Idea where to find a site that has reference on that? i.e. How to control download, a list of all such servers...
It's impossible to find more information with search engine. If I type in "server" "email" "ftp", it always shows content that are server software.
Thanks,
Peter
ckpeter,
If you have telnet access to a server, you may try this alternative.
1) Transfer the file to your server.
2) Using PINE, send the file to your local address as an attachment.

Try this URL.
http://www.faqs.org/faqs/internet-services/access-via-email/
It seems to have the information you require.
