Has anyone had any experience with aitcom.net. I currently have their IMHIP Thunder reseller plan that I am using for a few of my clients, and for a few of my other developments. I am a complete newbie in the hosting game.

I have nothing but problems with the cpanel and I absolutely hate their problem ticket system.

I own cadwebhosting.com, but have not developed the pages for it yet as that is just being used as the custom dns. I do own www.cadwebsitedesign.com and I am looking for feedback with respect to aitcom.net and I am also very interested in Dathorn.

I am currently paying $59.95 with aitcom.net for;
3GB Of Disk Space
100GB Data Transfer
30 Domain Names

I thank you all for any insight you might be able to give.

:D

PS: Their control panel is horrible....

AIT started out well. They built the company up fast with good support. The owner is an former Army Officer (like myself) that I went to OT with.

They have had some big growing pains recently. Some of our clients have domains registered via aitdomains. Seems they "upgraded" recenlty and lost a bunch of data. It was obvious that they used a recent backup to restore that data and lost thousands of DNS changes without notifiying clients of the mishap.

AIT has a good reputation and they have a profitable business which means you can feel more comfortable reselling their services. They were ranked in the Inc. 500 for the past couple of years, which would imply growing revenues from more customers signing up with them.

They have one of the worst reputations on the board. The stories abound of problems and even more problems in leaving them.

aitcom.net is one of the WORST companies in the industry. i got scammed for $76 back in 1999 and had to do a chargeback. any1 who says aitcom is "reputable" is extremely misleading.

look over here:

enough horror stories for u to read.

and if u think this is not convincable, read their BBB report here.

My friend owns a dathorn reseller account and loves it. The only problem he has experienced is temporary forum downtime mainly because I made the time offset an impossible number to have.... ANYWAY... dathorn is a go.... he has had 0 downtime and boasted how tech support is top notch. I'd say try dathorn :)

I used to have an account with aitcom years and years ago - they were a great introduction to reseller hosting, but after a short time no longer met my needs. I didn't have a bad experience per sea, I just had better experiences else where if you know what I mean.

AIT is a miserable excuse for a business. It took 6 months for them to so much as acknowledge my cancellation and I went through months of fraudulent bills, charges, harrassing e-mails and even harrassing phone calls!!!, etc. Ack!

I'm not alone, the BBB doesn't seem too happy with them either:

LOL,

So I am not alone when I say there cpanel software sucks and is very buggy... When I say there technical support # keeps you on hold for 20 mins then sends you to a voice mail.

There helpdesk system sucks.... You have to give them a customer number that supposably they assigned to me (which they didn't...I have every email they have ever sent printed out). I did however get through to telephone support several times.... they were helpful when I could reach them. But.....everytime they fixed one thing in my control panel, something else would get broken.

Also the servers were done at least 4-5 hours a week.. Email servers were down more than 10 hours a week.

And last but not least....I am still waiting to be cancelled... It has been 2 months now.

I do have to admit though.....back in the day they were very good at what they did.

Thought I'd dig up this old thread just to say how much AIT annoys me. They really do suck big time.

I endured hosting nightmares, fradulent billing nightmares and today I am enduring domain name hostage nightmares at aitdomains.

Nuke 'em!

Yes my experince with ait was equally bad. They are just plain incompetent. Their ticket system is like dealing with the federal gvernment. No suprise since most of them are part timers stationed at Fort Briggs. The CEO Clarence Briggs did actually call me to try and resolve the month lon cycle of issues, but to no avail. There ahs to have been disruption of personnal to to the war, and my prayers are with those boys. For what ever reason, they overall are incomeitant, and would not use them.

I only started searching for a webhost last week and it was by accident that I stubbled across this site beginning of this week....although I love this site everytime I go and find a webhost that seems to be good I come back in here to check to see if there are any comments and each time I do that I find a bunch of negative comments lol.

Case in point ait. I found a link to ait.com ... saw the 700 MB and 40Gig transfer rate for 8.00...I thought to myself hmmm 40 gig is high but at least they are not offering unlimited bandwidth so they might not be so bad...then I saw that TopHosts has them listed as #3 this month so I'm feeling better....then I come and search here and what do i find...aitsucks.com

lol I know you can take all comments seriously and sooner or later you just have to jump in and hope for the best BUT I have to say I'm getting a bit frustrated and disappointed more and more. :(

Ohh well back to surfing...

I had stumbled across the AIT site as well, and then when looking at TopHosts.com found them highly ranked. (Is TopHosts ranking that unreliable?) They seem to offer a good selection of products, and control of the server, for a very good price.

I have been reading through a number of these posts after searching the forums looking for experiences and what not from others, but am only really finding posts that are a few months old or older.

Has anyone had any recent experiences (good or bad) with AIT?

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated as well if you don't mind supplying them

Looking for:
Dedicated
Windows OS
Root Access (control of server to install my own 3rd Party Apps)
Flexible with HDD Space/Transfer (40 Gb storage/500 Gb transfer at least)
Would like to stay around the $150 or less area

I know that I get what I pay for, but costs are a bit of a concern, but reliability/availability are pretty important too.

I've been with Aitcom since 1997 (I think). I have since stared my own company, but I didn't want the hassle of moving this particular domain over to my company (couldn't afford the downtime).

They are good when their stuff works. When stuff breaks, GOOD LUCK.

They have overcharged me COUNTLESS times, and never communicate anything to me. My site was down for weeks because of a "billing error." Now my site is down and I can't get to their site for the phone number. Enough is enough... I'm dumping them.

I have been with AIT twice. The first time the experience was good as they were one of the first companies to offer affordable reselling. The second time was the most horrible hosting experience I have ever had.

Their control panel does suck, and never worked right for me. I couldn't submit a support ticket, because phone support would not give me my customer number, and none of the welcome emails had it. There phone support only answered half the time, and were helpful when they were available. Billing was a huge mess, they were always overcharging or double billing. They tried to steal my domain registered at aitdomains because I tried cancelling after 3 months of horrible service, luckily I transferred it and they let it pass. Trying to cancel was extremly hard, and it took an additional 3 months before they stopped billing me.

AIT is the worst hosting company ever, I would rather have hosting with someone that just dissappears then to ever be with there company again.

I hate AIT so much, I wouldn't even refer my worst enemy to them.
