Hello all

I am going to have a box at Equinix soon and my site is going up soon however I haven't got a clue on the type of connectivity this facility has, can someone help? The people who supplied me this server said it was Level3/Qwest at OC192, but that is too short, I need more info.

Something like this is a little better e.g. 155mbps OC3 with Level3 and OC192 with Qwest with BGP4 or something similar.

Is there a page on the web somewhere that's got a detailed explanation of EQUINIX's connectivity and their facilities, look at these example "Network Info" pages below. I'm looking for something similar.

http://www.linuxwebhost.net/network.html

Thanks for all your help! :)

I dont know much about Equinix but I would contact your host and ask them more info on it. They should be able to provide you with it.

I can't atm. They are extremely busy for this month. Im opening my webhost in a few weeks and I really need this information. I sent email to Equinix, no reply yet. Guess they are too big to answer little guys like me. And on top of that my provider says "We can choose what provider we want in that facility". What does he mean by that?? :o

it may be possable they dont use bgp and you can choose which uplink you use. Either level3 or qwest. Your host probably is the only one who will know all the answers. I wish they would respond to you faster. It is possable they are just growing fast but i am one who believes in customer service first.

that is until you get BIG ;)

And once they get BIG, profits are #1 priority, then comes customer care.

Equinix is a neutral colocation facility. Basically they only offer you a colocation facility and it's up to you where you get your bandwidth from. They should be able to help you on getting the bandwidth from one of their clients who are there selling their bandwidth.

Yes as stated earlier Equinix is just a data center, they are not a carrier.

The one here in chicago has 22 carriers to choose from and its really a different type of option.

There cabinets are a little more money then the normal, but bandwidth is usually cheaper because the carriers have a bidding war in there

I believe they do not provide you with connectivity, but they have most players in house which you can innerconnect to.
