View Full Version : Email To Fax/fax To Email
aleavens 08-13-2001, 10:52 PM Does anyone know where I can find a software that I can put on my server so that email to a clients email account will instead be sent to him/her via fax? and they can fax a reply that the server will pickup and redirect into an email?:)
Thank you in advance
Aloha
try www.Efax.com
there is a fee but it will do what you want
(pretty sure)
aleavens 08-13-2001, 11:43 PM no that is not what I am looking for. What I am looking for i something that I can put on MY server and emails for MY CLIENTS can be sent to them via fax.... example: joe@doe.com does not have a computer with internet access at his office, but he wants a web presence, email is no good he does not get it until he is home so he sets up his account to forward all mail that goes to @doe.com to his fax machine. that is what I am trying to offer.:)
Aloha
ahhh
I saw something like this for NT servers
will try to take a look
looked for it for around ten minutes so will do some more tomorow
MikeAch 08-14-2001, 10:45 AM Ipswitch has something like this, but you have to be running Windows with IMail, and it's picky about the modem. We bought a copy of the Email to Fax option for our IMail server but never used it.
Hope this helps.

Mike Achenbach

can you install a faxmodem on your hardware or you looking for a soft solution
What we are doing is having it setup so that the fax machine that the e-mail is sent to has an e-mail address. The only draw back is having a fax server close to the client to translate it. The script is in development to do this. This capability is reliant on a fax cell close to the client (local phone call). If this is what you are looking for let me know and I can give you more details. We are sending forms so we need something specific. But if it is just e-mail then I might be able to help you.
Look at http://www.tpc.int

this is close but not quite, I want something that is invisable to the end user, the client base I am looking at is technology challanged. so I need to use the K.I.S.S princepal.
Thank you all for the ideas.:(
blofish 08-20-2001, 12:00 PM I think you have all gone cookoo!
Give him a cell phone with email service.
TSR Wireless, Nextel Etc, all can provide this, If not free with regular service I think its about 10.00 more

Give him a cell phone with email service. While I don't want to speak for Andy, I'm not sure that giving a cell phone to each of clients would be the most practical solution.
aleavens 08-20-2001, 06:47 PM no I do not want to give each of my clients a cell phone (nice sign-up bonus though:) ) well I guess I'll keep looking for the answer to this, It has to be possible, if not I will have to find a programer who will do it for me.
Thanks everyone for your input and suggestions
