Have you put any thought into having an instant message service for the site? I know it hogs alot of resources, but a thought.

What do you mean? I do not really see a need for an AIM/ICQ interface since this HTML-based message is here.

Sometimes, you want to send a message to another instantly, about something on the webhostingtalk.com. Just for them to see or maybe a crowd of 5. Maybe its a stupid idea.

I kind of like the idea.

That definitely has some possibilities. The main question I have is how it would work. It would either have to be HTML, Java, or application based. I do not know how many people are using what operating systems. I wonder if existing programs like AIM and ICQ could be used.

Some forums do have this feature. A forum i visited recently offered the same facility by calling it PAGING.

It was just a one to one instant messaging service from within that forum.

Another good idea (for the future perhaps when this forum can afford their own dedicated server) would be to install a chatroom facility for members of this forum only.

Since we already have the benefit of knowing who is online in this forum when we log in, it could be a nice facility.

Resource hogs? YES! But once this forum starts to attract a large number of members on a daily basis... the ad revenue will start coming in.

And then it would add a lot of practicality in the form of options members may use if they desired to.

What I would really like to see is this forum soon becoming the primary forum on all aspects of webhosting!

I thought it to be an idea, but i want to know what the ADMIN has to say about it. Well Ad revunue would be good. I know with human click that is all java based. I know some free chatrooms but they kinda suck. This forum is becoming rather large, and money from ads are bound to be good as long as they are kept to a low, but then if one doesn't have enough banners then enough money is not there for the server, and everything takes money.
