Hello there
For all those who don't know me, my name is Lonny Potecho and I am the owner of Findtutorials.com FindSP.com and FindSPForums.com
I am searching for a job in the web hosting industry, I spend A LOT of time sitting in front of the computer, and I am very familar with the hosting industry - since I'm running a web hosting portal.
I am not looking for something technical, such as programming or design but something more like accounting, sales, sending emails, kind of position. I am very eaperienced with Win2k server, and have been working in marketing and managenet in e-companies for over 6 years...
Payments are negotiable. Hey, if you'll hire me maybe I'll give you a free placement in our showcase? :)
Looking forward hearing from you.

please e-mail: macneil23@hotmail.com and we shall chat!
just a question - would anyone else feel uncomfortable employing someone who works for a host portal? It just kind of seems like a conflict of interest to me.
I'm not sure how I feel =) sway me.

not working for, but own it :)
What is the problem? I don't see any disadvantages :)
say I'm joe schmoe outside 3rd party person and I go to your website... I see that neil's company is pretty high on your rankings.. "sweet" I think to myself... so I pop on over to neil's page... surf around and I find a listing of the staff... and guess who's on the staff ... you.. =) I dunno.. maybe this isn't a problem - I've noticed this with acky.net and another shell provider / webhost who will go unmentioned.. other than that =)) I could use a sales / support / whoever person - e-mail me neil@xuthosting.com.

Sorry, I still don't see a problem... any company could make a dummy site to promote their services, it is very legal, and that's what they actually do, create special pages to promote some events...
As long as the service is good, who cares about everything else?

As long as the service is good, who cares about everything else? I think the point is that a lot of people visiting places like WHT have been stung by these so called "legal" but perhaps morally reprehensible practices...
Bottom line, would you trust a site that, like many others, promotes a host that the owner works for? If I found that information I wouldn't... no reflection on you or your host in particular but impartiality would be essential.
I think you pretty much capped it all though by offering (tongue in cheek) a top listing which implies (correctly or otherwise) that your top listings can be bought.
Just an opinion and not intended as a slander on yourself but I hope explains why Neil may have a point...
Good luck finding work anyways. :)

Hrmm ... buut the point of a dummy site/corporation does not apply here.
In face, it is vice versa. A major contributing factor of you being hired could be because of the fact that you DO own a directory site.
I dont really care ... but I found the logic illogical =0
