Hi,
I got a RAQ4r -
Cannot get my mail to be receive by my Cobalt , here is the message I get when tring to post :

--- Partial Session Transcript ---
Attempting SMTP connection to [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx : 25]
Waiting for socket connection...
Winsock Error 10060: The connection timed out.
This message is 60 minutes old; it has 0 minutes left in this queue
Primary queue lifetime exceeded; message placed in retry queue
--- End Transcript ---

I'm able to connect with my EMailClient to my account, so I guess it's not a network problem. (Sure there is no message in the mailbox they don't get there :))

I run my own DNS.
Settings for MX Record : mydomain.com -> www.mydomain.com and had A Record for both www.mydomain.com and mydomain.com

 Also when I try to add mydomain.com in the EMail Parameters for Host/Domain Aliases it don't take it. I click save but when I come back anything has changed. It only take the WWW.domain.com for the domain name hosted on this server.

If anyone can help ?

Thanks - Good jobs guys !!!

I'm not exactly sure I understand the problem. Basically, if you send email to a user listed on the domain, that user does not get the email, correct? Or is it that you cannot *send* email from a user's account through the server to *another* email address?

The problem is :
I can send my e-mail with my EMailClient but my SMTP server, which is not the Cobalt send me the Delivery Error I wrote in my message.
Seems to be the Email Server on the Cobalt Server that is not responding.

Thanks

Alain

My guess is that your ISP is blocking the port (25) and you will not be able to send mail through to your server. What ISP do you use?

How would I find out if this is the problem??

You'd ask your ISP if they block SMTP email relaying (port 25). It is pretty well know Earthlink/Mindspring do this, though I can't remember if Prodigy did it when I used to use them, or if they do it now. From what you posted though, it is a *very* likely reason.

They won't admit it...I had one of thier techs in a chat...and he just kept going in circles and telling me that I should use the prodigy smtp.....

time for a new isp.....

He did tell me that they dont' block port 35, because that was a common smtp port...but then he said that it might be a security thing....and told me to use thiers.......

gotta love double talk...

lol
