MCHost-Marc 08-12-2001, 02:47 AM NAC.net went down exactly 6 minutes ago. :( jayglate 08-12-2001, 02:55 AM NAC Is not down, check out my site www.pwebtech.com. They are upgrading the switch that your provider is connected to. markblair 08-12-2001, 02:55 AM Would this by any chance be the reason I can't access my two domains on Site5, Site5's web site and also their support site? I know you don't work for them but maybe you know if they are connected some way with NAC? Thanks, Craig 08-12-2001, 02:59 AM This would come at the time that my end (UK) is waking up :) Or for the hardcore like myself, havent been to bed yet :) hehehe Craig jayglate 08-12-2001, 03:00 AM Correct, you are all connected to the same switch. Craig 08-12-2001, 03:02 AM Any idea on how long its suposed to take? Regards Craig jayglate 08-12-2001, 03:04 AM It should be finished within a few minutes. Craig 08-12-2001, 03:05 AM Thanks jay. Regards Craig Craig 08-12-2001, 03:27 AM and its back :) Regards Craig JG 08-12-2001, 05:00 AM NAC does seem to be down right now, and for the last half hour at least... techforce 08-12-2001, 05:03 AM Kiwi ( Marc) Can you check your email that I sent you? It's extremly important. Thanks. Brad Palm 08-12-2001, 05:16 AM Its been down for more then half hour. Does this happen often? mahinder 08-12-2001, 06:31 AM it is working fine from india.;) mahinder 08-12-2001, 06:33 AM Originally posted by jayglate NAC Is not down, check out my site www.pwebtech.com. They are upgrading the switch that your provider is connected to. there is broken link on your web site when i click on net starter server order. http://www.pwebtech.com./ntorder.html also when customize button will be active. :( kunal 08-12-2001, 08:07 AM yup..they seem to be working now... JG 08-12-2001, 11:36 AM Does anyone know what happened? I had absolutely no traffic to my Pegasus machine for over 70 minutes. kunal 08-12-2001, 12:34 PM from what i heard they were upgrading a switch? ckizer 08-12-2001, 10:32 PM hmm. what exactly did they change? that was some awefully expensive downtime to not be notified about. Craig 08-12-2001, 11:24 PM Originally posted by Palm Its been down for more then half hour. Does this happen often? Hardly - happens about as much as an eskimo wanting to buy snow. Regards Craig JG 08-13-2001, 03:30 PM Still, some advance notification would have been nice, it could have saved me getting out of bed at 4 AM to see what was wrong. If it was out of their control, that's understandable, but there seems to be a lack in communication. Palm 08-13-2001, 04:54 PM Its down again Aug 13 4:30 EASTERN TIME. How many downtimes can they possibly have in one week. JG 08-13-2001, 04:55 PM Down again, about 10 minutes ago. MCHost-Marc 08-13-2001, 04:58 PM Originally posted by Craig Hardly - happens about as much as an eskimo wanting to buy snow. Regards Craig They're almost never down, but it i guess its a good time to buy snow stocks if all the eskimos are suddenly buying. :D :( Palm 08-13-2001, 05:00 PM Why are they down two time in a week. They keep saying 5-10 min downtime then it lasts up to an hour. JG 08-13-2001, 05:02 PM Originally posted by Kiwi They're almost never down, but it i guess its a good time to buy snow stocks if all the eskimos are suddenly buying. :D :( It has not been a good week... Friday my server was down for over eleven HOURS because the power supply broke :( MCHost-Marc 08-13-2001, 05:05 PM Everyone back to work, coffee break is over ...they're back up :stickout :D Palm 08-13-2001, 05:05 PM Should we expect this next week as well? JG 08-13-2001, 05:15 PM Back down... Mon Aug 13 16:11:00 CDT 2001 MCHost-Marc 08-13-2001, 05:20 PM Lets hope they don't start building Igloos. Lonewolf 08-13-2001, 05:29 PM hrmmm down again 2:20PST... im getting fed up... think im gunna find another host, mby its not site 5's problem but i would like to know about all this downtime in advance..... MCHost-Marc 08-13-2001, 05:40 PM All hosts in the NAC.net DataCenter are down and sometimes they just don't know about downtimes in advance. WebSnail.net 08-13-2001, 05:42 PM Originally posted by Lonewolf hrmmm down again 2:20PST... im getting fed up... think im gunna find another host, mby its not site 5's problem but i would like to know about all this downtime in advance..... To tell the truth it seems that most of the hosts you might be considering will be on the same or similarly affected networks themselves. Right now I can't access Mchost either... 22:37GMT. I would suggest that the hosts consider chasing this though as the sporadic up/downtime seems to indicate that there's a bigger problem than a simple switch taking place. :( Cheers Palm 08-13-2001, 05:44 PM This is only the begnning. Let the downtimes begin. ckizer 08-13-2001, 05:45 PM Arrg, yeah this isn't cheep, think $100 a minute :-( Palm 08-13-2001, 05:47 PM This isn't cheap for hosts also. ckizer 08-13-2001, 05:50 PM Has anybody gave Nac a ring to find out what the issue is? EKR 08-13-2001, 05:51 PM FYI, the traceroute gets as far as nac.net and then times out. I wouldn't think this is scheduled downtime... not in mid-afternoon. JG 08-13-2001, 05:52 PM I just called Pegasus and they told me NAC has a router down. Palm 08-13-2001, 05:52 PM First its the switch, then power, then something else. sianews 08-13-2001, 05:56 PM From my host: "Update: NAC is replacing their core router which has been having problems. Once replaced the network will be accessible again. There is no ETA at their end at this time. More updates to come as we receive them." "Update: The router that feeds pnap.net is being bounced. More updates to come." :(. gordita 08-13-2001, 05:57 PM Originally posted by ckizer Has anybody gave Nac a ring to find out what the issue is? I called Pegasus. They just said "they were having some minor network problems". I tried to be gracious with the guy, knowing he'd probably been chewed out a dozen already. He said they had no known ETA as they were waiting on a response from their upstream provider (NAC?) EKR 08-13-2001, 05:58 PM Back up :) sianews 08-13-2001, 06:00 PM Originally posted by gordita I called Pegasus. They just said "they were having some minor network problems". Same here :). Palm 08-13-2001, 06:04 PM Originally posted by Eric Radtke Back up :) Probably will go down again. EKR 08-13-2001, 06:15 PM Originally posted by Palm Probably will go down again. That's certainly a possibility. Palm 08-13-2001, 06:17 PM I don't think changing the "main router" is a 30min job. ebo 08-13-2001, 06:18 PM Lost 8 customers over the past week about this. I would like to know what is really going on. Seems like alot of excuses are surfacing, but no real answers. ckizer 08-13-2001, 06:21 PM It's certainly understandable that NAC had issues (everybody does) It would be great though if somebody inside the server room could (maybe Jay) give us the scoop of what happened to put our minds at ease. Go easy on Nac, they rock. Thanks in advance. EKR 08-13-2001, 06:41 PM For those who don't know already, Nac.net's network outage page is at http://www.nac.net/outages.asp and generally explains any outages that occur. It would be better though if they could put that info on a page off their network, so we don't have to wait until service is restored before we know what's going on. Palm 08-13-2001, 07:00 PM Just like they said, they are still working on this router problem so I guess we should expect more downtime. Craig 08-13-2001, 09:58 PM is it backup? or are there still issues? gordita 08-13-2001, 10:28 PM Originally posted by Craig is it backup? or are there still issues? it's back up, I recieved any info so I don't know if/when we should expect it to be down again.
