Hello everyone I am Jon. I was wondering what do I exacly need to know to run my own website company. I am most likley going to go get a server from servers4u (better prices then rack shack).

Where do I start where do I go?

If you're asking these questions..I'd recommend that you start off with a reseller account at a reputable provider. :), preferably one that uses CPanel as it is easier to use.

You'll also need a good website design, and a payment processor, like Paysystems (http://www.paysystems.com/)

cPanel is the control panel that you use for your sites.
You will get WHM to control the sites you are hosting.

Why? :) Being a reseller is easier than managing a server. Once you get familliar with the operations of a reseller, you can make the transition to a dedicated server.

If you pick a unmanaged dedicated server, you are responsible for basically everything - kernel upgrades, etc. Being a reseller saves you from this hassle. :)

Being a reseller would be more cost effecient for you than paying for a whole dedicated server. You could upgrade your reseller as you go along, saving you money. Then when you feel its tiem to make the jump, make it.
