Is there anyone here who has set up custom CGI scripts on a Concentric host? It is allowed, but I can't get it to work. Am trying to set up a bulletin board on my site. I tried using one shareware BBS, the tech support folks thought the problem was with my path. Also, CHMOD does not work on this host, permissions are set through the control panel.

Did you try call thier Tech Support in regarding this problem? Explain them what problems you are having.

If it doesn't work out, the best move is find a new host.

I know someone who used to be tech support for them. If I can help let me know, and I will forward a message to her. She no longer works for 'em, but still hosts her site with them loc'd at http://carita.nu (she screwed up the design so you need BETTER than 800x600 to view the site).

I am sure she can't wait for yet another tech support request, but she is a good person, you could try contacting her if you don't get anywhere with the current concentric monkeys, and tell her CHICKEN sent ya'.

If you want help with the custom message board on CHost, it's pretty easy. I just called, since I haven't worked for them in about 2 years, because I was a little rusty. BUT, here's what you do.

If you want to set up their board (which is pretty cheezy, but can be customized *a little*), go through the CGI wizard and create your board.

Next, go into the /web directory, and click on your /board directory. This has I think 5 files in it.

Create 2 new files. one called header.html, and the second called footer.html.

in header.html, you can add your logo (if you look at http://carita.nu/board) you'll see that i've got a logo on the top, and i don't have that gross background that concentric supplies you with. you can change the bgcolors too.

in the files, you don't need anything fancy at all. just the following.

< __ img src="myimage.jpg" __ > (don't use the underscores though) and a background color if you're feeling sassy.


and i changed my page, so hopefully you can look at it at 800x600 now. who does that anyways?
