I am having troubles password protecting a directory in CPanel. When I password protect a directory and try to access it I get a 403 forbidden and a 404 not found.

Front Page is not installed so I know that isn't the problem. Any help?

This usually happens when you don't put anything in the resource field.

What should be in the resource field?

try to put at least an index.html file

Put any word in.

Ok, I put a resource name in and files already exists in that folder including and index file. Still gives me a 403 without prompting for a password. Can you think of anything else it could be?

check your dir permission.
