Thanks, Ray marco 08-12-2001, 03:45 AM Overall good. I currently am on a HostPro Freedom 200 account and things go well. Almost no dowtime at all, good UNIX support. You are not root, though :( I experienced high load spikes on my server a few months ago, but all of a sudden it disappeared and now it is quite low I suggest you these packages (I am not affiliate with them nor work for them) Cheers, :) neil 08-12-2001, 05:00 AM oh though I've never had an account with them - I can vouch for their sales department as being very very professional. Seems like they have a ton of customers. -neil Ray Pollett 08-12-2001, 09:46 AM Thanks Marco and Neil. I appreciate the response. The freedom 200 is what I signed up for. Being a complete computer idiot, I know next to nothing; I've had nothing but trouble. I can't even get my email to work. I have two sites hosted on it. The first one the email works and the second one it does not. So far I would not reccomend them. I was trying to figure out if it was me or them. Thanks Ray marco 08-12-2001, 12:10 PM Hi Ray, you're right: if you do not know nothing of the Unix environment it is quite hard to do something, and the control panel provided is just there for nothing, it can start/stop daemons and almost nothing more. There are better hosts out there for those who are not used to the (complex when you start) Unix command line. That's quite expensive, I agree with flipmoe, but the treatment you get is very professional: you do not pay for nothing. What is extremely expensive is the money you have to give them if you exceed the monthly bandwidth allotment: as far as I remember the last time I made my calculations was 8$ per extra GB!!! Bye, :) |
