View Full Version : Your thoughts on this NT reseller host
While I'm waiting for stargateinc to fix a problem with my name servers, I'v had time to look at some NT reseller plans.
Not sure about shelling out $100 / month just for a reseller account (well, actually $75 / month since they told me they'd cut 25% off, and 50% off the initial setup fee for my reseller account).

What do you guys think? It is so hard to find a good NT reseller, and I've looked and looked.

MCHost-Marc 08-10-2001, 05:16 PM You forgot the URL.
Dang Marc, you're too quick! ;) Was hoping to edit before anyone noticed.

MCHost-Marc 08-10-2001, 05:25 PM I don't have any personal experience with them and haven't found many comments, but these 2 threads might help you:

mahinder 08-10-2001, 06:48 PM there is no link to control panel demo. prices are ok. you may find cheap prices if you search these forms.
Actually I have searched these forums. And quite thoroughly I might add. The host in question is well respected in the ASP community which is where my background is at.
Some examples of NT hosts I found in this forum:
M6 = tech support located in Austrailia
Cosmotek = didn't answer my two emails I sent them inquiring about their services
CentralInfo = does not allow FSO among other things
Already got my linux host :)
Still trying to decide on a Windows host.

Terry, I've never heard anything about the host you mentioned above (good nor bad). You also mentioned a few I knew of. Before reading your post I noticed Gordon offers Windows hosting, and have met Mike of handyhosting before. I've never used either service, so they are just a few more members that I know of that offer Windows hosting that you might want to contact about your needs. Usernames are in bold and I've reposted their signatures.

Thanks Chicken. I don't see where Gordon offers Windows reseller packages though. I checked out handynetworks and sent him a couple of questions.

Chicken 08-10-2001, 09:03 PM To be honest, I didn't either, but in a post he said, "We provide Linux and Windows web hosting", so that's why I mentioned it. There is a rather long (6-8 pages or so) thread that was removed that might have a few more. I'll see if I can find it and scan through for NT resellers (errrr... you know what I mean)...
Chicken 08-10-2001, 10:07 PM Ok, that 6-8 page thread was actually 13 pages :( I went through it all, and these are the hosts (members here) that claim to offer NT reseller plans. Obviously I haven't used these, some of them might not even resolve, so do your research on anything that looks interesting to you. List goes oldest posts (made at WHT) to newer ones...

Wow Chicken that's some serious digging :D
Thank you! Now I got some more work to do.
Chicken 08-11-2001, 11:16 AM No problem. I've seen a couple of people complain that due to a vBull limitation of search terms (must be more than two letters), they can't find info here on *any* 'NT' hosts. Hopefully this will help of you guys. Remember the search terms I planted and try to help others who are having trouble (tell them to search for 'NThosts' or 'WindowsNT').
Also, if you find out any info on any of these, keep us updated for future poor lost souls :D
Dedicated 08-11-2001, 01:18 PM You have done an excellent job Chicken ;) :D
Well here's my initial observations on most of the links Chicken provided:
http://www.vsni.com - page wouldn't load
http://www.voicegateway.com - no toll free #, no real reseller info, have to submit a form for the reseller info
http://www.webshowhost.com - toll free #, no real info on reselling
http://www.atjeu.com - not Windows platform
http://www.121host.net - seems too pricey to get started
http://www.cahostnet.com - toll free #, good prices, reseller control panel, no SQL Server
http://www.cephrenhosting.com - toll free #, no control panel
http://www.pbis.net - no real info
http://www.ewsnl.com - cheap, allows adult content (not good idea IMHO)
http://www.onlyhosting.net - toll free #, SQL Server, no control panel
http://www.fwhn.com - affiliate only
http://www.windowswebhost.com - toll free #, expensive
http://www.inetdesign2k.com - no toll free #, good prices, no SQL Server
http://www.brinet.net - = datapacket.net
http://www.hubwest.com - no reseller found
http://www.real-marketing.com - no reseller found
http://www.reinventinc.com - toll free #, free advertising, have to submit form for reseller info
http://www.vortechhosting.com - toll free #, didn't find any Windows reseller info, only *nix
http://www.sectorlink.com - toll free #, control panel in development stage, very good prices
http://www.empirehost.com - toll free #, not cheap
http://www.mavcorp.com - looks like a Cosmotek reseller
http://www.people-connect.com - have to submit form for reseller info
http://www.handynetworks.com - toll free #, AIM, ICQ, Cold Fusion, SQL Server, control panel, good prices.
Of course these are not well checked out, and are only my observation, but handynetworks definitely has the edge.
Terry
Chicken 08-11-2001, 04:04 PM Some good digging there, will be helpful to others. I didn't list M6, as you had already mentioned it, might want to add a comment about them.
I don't like to make recommendations on the forum, as members simply don't like that, and as a moderator it means that we are suggesting one member over another. I also feel it would be better if everyone only posted suggestions about hosts they've used (makes sense eh?).
What I can tell you is that Mike of handynetworks is one of the few hosts I've actually met (had a fab dinner at Universal with him and another host).
I have nothing negative to say about M6. It just didn't work out for me personally because I'm here in the states and their support is in Austraila and the time delay concerned me. Other than that they were extremely helpful and the support was very friendly and professional.
Forgot to add that I seriously looked at Cosmotek but they didn't respond to 2 out of 3 emails I sent them regarding questions I had.
I have a pretty popular asp site which I will use to push my Windows hosting biz, so I'm thinking it'll get a quick start.... er hoping anyways. :D
As far as handynetworks goes.. it's between them and one other I'm talking to now.
I can't believe it took 96 hours for my name servers to propagate. Finally.

i have tried stargateinc before and they are slow. Took almost a week to be in a whois or work. and took about three days to change the propagate the new nameservers. they are cheap but service is poor.

well, I can. We're currently hosted on their servers and I'm looking for a new host these days. The support is kinda good. But their serves are S-L-O-W. And we're witnessing wierd errors lately like "no website is configured at this address" and such other weird errors..
I recommend handy hosting.

M6.net is one of the most horrible expirience we had in our hosting business. These guys had given nothing but a downtime of more than 6 days in 3 parts in the first 25 days of hosting ..lame excuses and a very unprofessional billing systems. They charged me for next month even when i cancelled my account and I had to reuest more than 10 times to them for the refund. Finally it was only after when i had asked them that i would be proceeding for chargebacks they refunded my amount. Highly unprofessional Company I have ever come across. THeir billing people don't know what technical is saying..tech people don't know what sales people are committing and none of them don't know what they are doing..I lost my customer..my reputation and they had just been giving excuses while their server went down for more than 3 days continiously...They commit you of a control panel while they have a mail based system..even to create a dsn you have to request them and wait for 12 - 24 hours before they would create a single dsn for you...and most of the times they would create the dsn by some other name..I have a long list of communications i had with them whihc would be enough to expose them and create a intersting story about them...I would never recommend them... switch to datapacket.net even :D but not to m6.net
IceBlaZe 01-05-2002, 06:19 PM I have been with nexpoint for a week or two (not much time) but meanwhile their support is great and the site loads fast (luckily, no downtime yet).
You can test it at e-sraelnet.nexpoint.net if you want (I havent assigned any domain to it yet, havent chosen which one yet).
I use the win2k special package, tho I was scared of the unmetered bandwidth I e-mailed them about it and they gave me a direct answer of how much on what cases is Unmetered (And I got exact quantities).
Im not gonna post them here, because I think that if they publish unmetered it will be unfair of me to say how much, if you want to know you can e-mail them and Im quite sure they will reply.
Hope that helps :)
poncho2000 01-29-2002, 03:05 PM Does handynetworks.com allow multiple domains in 1 reseller account?
