You might want to check your Windows installation disk.. not sure if it can be not installed. It has its flaws but I haven't found anything I like better as of yet. Im afraid i havent got it....Any links to download it will be helpful but i cant find it any where It should come with IE. Here's a link to IE: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/default.asp will_stevens 08-22-2003, 07:46 AM I downloaded the 6. pack and all i got was internet explorer. I got XP does that have any effect on it? FiftySixK 08-22-2003, 08:33 AM If you have XP then OE should be @ C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe blue27 08-22-2003, 11:02 AM Originally posted by Alex042 Something wrong with OE? IGobyTerry 08-22-2003, 11:15 AM ... and who also uses IE? Computer illiterate people, so of course they're going to not know what's a virus and what is. blue27 08-22-2003, 11:40 AM Originally posted by KIAHost Obviously that would be the case. It's the most used. Actually, the reason is because it is a Microsoft product and is the specific target of most of these viruses. Eudora mail has a lot of users but they don't have the virus issues. blue27 08-22-2003, 11:42 AM Originally posted by inogenius ... and who also uses IE? Computer illiterate people, so of course they're going to not know what's a virus and what is. You should probably reconsider that statement. I am extremely computer literate and I use OE on all of my computers. It's because I'm computer literate I can use it and not have the problems others may have. So you're saying that in order to be computer literate you have to use Mozilla, Opera, or any other non-IE browser regardless of which browser is actually better? I guess it's obvious who the computer illiterate person is. akashik 08-22-2003, 12:07 PM *sigh* This isn't going to degenerate into a MS Vs the rest thread is it? I use IE and Outlook Express and I don't think I'm a dolt, or illiterate. I don't have a virus in my desktop as I keep up to speed on patches and updates. I run a firewall (SyGate), and haven't been infected in years. I also spend my days roaming around in a Linux shell and dealing with support issues. I find XP and it's associated software the best fit for the needs I have. Please park your stupidity outside and check your coats with the doorman. Alex042 08-22-2003, 12:21 PM Only that OE is the single largest proliferator of viruses on the interenet. Actually, any email, especially those with attachments, regardless of what tool is used to open it, may contain viruses and therefore open most of my mail in OE on my Mac which seems to be immune to most common viruses. I don't recall having any viruses infect my computer as a result of OE, or any other email program. It's a matter of technique rather than tool. There are also other steps someone could take to avoid having OE or any other tool cause problems. The only annoying bug I've found with OE is the occassional OE database corruptions probably due to excessive size. I haven't had these issues since I've split my mail into smaller pieces. |
