Hi,

I am about to install a couple of payment gateways on one of my sites.

I am thinking of Pay Pal and one other.

Can anyone recommend any good ones I should look at and the reasons why.

IE: cost, service etc.

Many Thanks

Darrell...

I use Paypal and 2checkout. So far my service from Paypal has been flawless. 2checkout leaves a little to be desired. PaySystems has a similar fee structure and the reviews seem to be more favorable.

Given the choice between paysystems and 2checkout, I would go for Paysystems. We use both (different sites) and have found paysystems to be a better all-rounder ;)

i currently have all 3!
paysystems has bit better rates, but much better customer service (so far), i was able to call them at like 2 am and get an instant and helpful response.
they also have a live chat on their members area.

paysystems has quite a bit of features, of which im still trying to learn (i just signed up like last week)

2checkout, is ok, could be ALOT better, have had some problems, but i have gotten my money...

paypal, no real problems yet

PayPal is OK for US clients. I can also suggest to use payment system comfortable for clients worldwide. There are a lot of them.

Worldpay, CCNow, IBill, Regsoft, ClickBank and etc.

There are alot of people (including myself) who won't do business with PayPal and therefore cannot do business with you (if thats your exclusive processor) unless you offer an alternative processor.

Some people tell you how great PayPal is - I beg to differ and I am not alone.

Do what you like - but I would offer an alternative to those who do not want to have anything to with PayPal.

The problem with Paypal is that their system of operation is illegal in many countries in the world, so they're having lots of trouble expanding to all nations.

I'm not saying that they're scammers or anything like that mind you, just that fiduciary banking systems are (in many countries) required to have enough fluidity to cover all their slips at any one time, and Paypal doesn't.

In a related note, this is why casinos & the like are required to have enough cash on hand to exchange ALL chips into paper money, since what they're doing is effectively holding your money in trust while you play.

What is the setup charge for in paysystems and 2checkout for?
Looked at one of the sites and they said its for support etc. but would the money they get from each transaction not cover that?
Hope someon can help me out :)

It covers the set-up of your account :D

There is a process which has to be followed when setting up an account and this involves their staff verifying all information you supply to them, requesting and checking documentation, checking that your site is up to standard and has incorporated the payment links correctly etc – this all costs money – and $50 is very reasonable.

I guess it also cover the cost of extra support new customers need ;)

Ok thanks :)
Didnt think it would cost $50 just to check some info on a site though.
Im sure it would only take one person to check that info and it couldnt take that long, could it?
Not exactly sure what they have to do but guess it covers something anyway..
Thanks again,
John
