Imagine a place where you can be assured discretion, and no discrimination...
Imagine a place where you no longer have to advertise for a sperm donor...
Imagine not having to ask friends you know for a sperm sample...
Imagine a place where the introduction is handled for you - simply and discreetly...
Imagine a place where you are fully supported on your journey to parenthood…
Imagine no more...
SEX :D

TheDoctor 08-20-2003, 08:57 AM I personally am fully in favour of Natural Insemination and have strive all my adult life to this end. I am only to glad to donate my sperm provided it's natural insemination. ......
I suppose it want be to long before they are able to artificially produce sperm there by rendering the male of the species totally redundant, oh well I suppose we still got wars to entertain our selves.

I think they may already have done that. I seem to remember on a documentary somewhere that when they produced dolly the genetically engineered sheep they didn't actually use sperm but some sort of electrical process that set in motion the development process.

I think they're also talking about being able to create normal sperm from stem cells outside the body:

Scary implications, but fascinating!
RackNine 08-20-2003, 03:24 PM Not so much create sperm but there are successful studies out there that have managed to impregnate an egg either by replacing the nucleus (dna-holding part of cell) or even fertilizing using another egg. It's a tough process but if it ever came down to the line women don't need men, they just need technology.
Yikes.

Tallon 08-20-2003, 03:38 PM That takes all of the fun right out of it, maybe that's why I'm not a lesbian.
cperciva 08-20-2003, 04:02 PM s/women/British/, as well.
Shannara 08-20-2003, 04:16 PM umm.. what does that have to do with sex? You can still have sex without being with a guy.. sheesh.

That depends upon what the meaning of 'is' is. :D
EthicalEpi 08-20-2003, 04:37 PM I think lesbians probably have fun too, they just find it a lot harder to have children as a result of it, which is what that site seems to be about to me. They're not saying that people should stop having sex.
Shannara 08-20-2003, 07:52 PM I was posting in responce to RajanUrs topic starter.. just because there's no guys.... doesnt mean there's no sex.. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D mmmm, toys.
hostpath.com 08-20-2003, 08:38 PM I'm a lesbian trapped in a man's body.
RajanUrs 08-21-2003, 02:31 AM ok fine all you do your own thing but people got to be cautious about making too many sperm donations or else men and women in the future will have to worry about marrying their half brothers/sister :D unless they too opt out hahahahahaha
cyansmoker 08-21-2003, 04:57 AM Is it me or is there a lot of bigotry on this thread?
Do you know that lesbian couples who want kids usually end up resorting to asking a male friend to have sex with one of the partners, and it's not so much fun?
Or maybe same-sex couples with kids scare you?
Or am I missing a subtil joke here?
Toys are fine but once in a while you need the real deal right, or am i kidding myself?
What has this world come to.....
EthicalEpi 08-21-2003, 11:48 AM I think it was originally meant as a joke cyansmoker, though a couple of posts had me thinking the same thing a bit.
That site doesn't scare me personally although the way its being marketed could be a little more subtle (imho), and neither does the idea of lesbian couples bringing up kids scare me. As long as they are looked after properly, and are cared about and have a good life, that's the important thing. Dealing with the bigotry that you suggest ofcourse may end up being part of that life which is a little worrying, but that's more of a problem with society itself.
What does scare me a bit are some of the possible implications of those links I posted (not so much that men will become less relevant to reproductive processes, but more the genetic and societal possibilities when this technology evolves and becomes a reality). Those weren't directed at this site, but more in response to that post I was responding to about making sperm (the 'they' I was talking about were geneticists).
