Going buy a raq4 from rackshack. Have a few more questions to ask.

Ok, go ahead.

Can we install MS SQl in raq4?

Sure can! Get the linux version of it and install it using the manual. I would recommend though that you use mySQL since Cobalt released a special version of that is already in .pkg format. All you do is point your server to the URL and it installs everything for you.

Can we install cold fusion in raq4?

Sure can! BUT!!!!!! Before you install CFM on any RaQ, visit Allaire's website and get the installation manual for the Solaris OS. This is VERY important. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT let CFM add itself to Apache. If you do, you will run into one of two problems. One, CFM knocks Apache offline and it takes about an hour to figure out how to get it back on or two, it doesn't touch Apache and CFM knocks itself offline. Instead, read the Solaris manual on how to add CFM to Apache manually. Once added manually, run the CFM installation, remembering to choose NO when it asks to add itself to Apache, and after everything is installed, it will work flawlessly.

ASP is available in raq4 ?

Sure is! The RaQ 4 comes with a special version of ASP called ChiliASP (ASP for Linux). It's already preinstalled and is fully functional right out of the box.

Well, that's all for your questions so that's all for my answers. ;)

First, Cobalts do not use SunOS they use a modified version of Redhat Linux. SunOS (Solaris) is not Linux.

Second, Coldfusion 4.5.2 and above installs fine on a Raq using the setup utility. I have installed CF on four raqs with no problems.

I assume MS SQL is Microsoft SQL Server????
As far as I know, MS SQL Server DOES NOT run on Linux. Double check to make sure, but I think I would have heard about this.

You can access a MS SQL server from Linux using ASP or CF, but the server has to be on an NT/2K box.

I know this. BUT, like I said in my post, use the Solaris manual to find out how to add CFM to Apache manually. I didn't say the RaQ OS was Solaris. I have also installed CFM on a few RaQ's and have ran into Apache problems using the setup utility adding itself to Apache. So to combat the problems, I just use the Solaris manual to add it to Apache manually and I have had no problems.
