It combs all of its feathers from one side of its head to the other... (aka "The Feather Combover")

As long as I'm breaking with tradition and offering up some short posts, I thought I'd point out that bald eagles are once again very common in parts of the country. I actually saw one here in Illinois about a year ago. However, the real surprise was when I went to Yellowstone early this summer. I saw so many of them that I sometimes I wouldn't even look twice at after a sighting. When I was a little kid; it really looked like DDT, hunting, and habitat destruction were about to exterminate the species. Now they are thriving to the degree I think I might just be able to have one for dinner at some point in my life. MMMmmmMMM . . . tastes like chicken. Anyway, they really are strikingly beautiful creatures, probably the largest and most interesting flying birds I've ever seen. I'm just surprised and pleased to discover that it only took them a few decades to recover from all the abuse mankind collectively put them through.

okay...

that was a joke. Ummm... I wasn't intending to disrespect our national symbol. I wasn't intending to hand out pans and "Bald Eagle" recipes.

It was a joke.

Maybe it was bad... and I'm sorry if I offended anyone's sense of joke telling... but still...

I didn't realize they were that rare. I see 3 of them on the same tree every day on the highway on my way to work.

talk about disrespect to national bird.....India's national bird is peacock.....in some parts in the north the road side truck stop hotels serve omlettes and other dishes prepared from peacock eggs and meat. In the south they exist mainly in the wildlife sanctuaries but still they are a target for forest rangers and tribal people who live in the forests.

I think most of us got the joke but the topic shot off in a tangent. Probably in US there arent much restrictions on the use of the national emblem and flags but in my country no unauthorised person is even allowed to hoist a flag or display the national emblem.

Here is another joke: How can you tell a bishop is a bishop when you see him on the road ?

Ans: He will always be walking in a diagnal path.

Yes, but there has been some amendment to the rule about a year back and its not so strict now.
