My question needs a little background first so here it goes. I got my server from a well know company (to this board, no names for now) on the evening of 7/21/2001.

On the first logon through WHM I got an Invalid Lisc File MSG. That was fixed within 30 minutes.

The first thing I noticed was I was missing a 2nd hard drive. The next thing was TOP showed 100% CPU usage, Portsentry was writing to the log continually. This went on until 7/29/01 with me asking support what was going on every day.

On the evening 7/25/01 the 2n HD was installed after 4 different inquires. The Drive ended up being 1/3 the size I paid for. I also noticed the CPU now reported only 500mhz instead of 1000mhz. They fixed that in an hour or so, no responce about the drive.

7/25/02 asked for more ip’s. Request fulfilled 12 hours latter.

7/28/01 Asking about the 2nd drive 3 different times I was told that’s all they had and I could take what I had or wait until they got another one in. By this time Portsentry was going crazy again, I also realized it only did this after adding users from WHM.

7/28/01 I wrote a polite email and almost begged to get things fixed once and for all.

7/28/01 late p.m. I got an email from the main guy, he apologized and said everything would be fixed and I told him I understood #&*#@ happens! I agreed on a solution about the drive with him too.

8/30/01 Portsentry seems fixed!

8/04/01 A Reseller account and resold accounts couldn’t be accessed. Noticed the Virtual Servers ip’s for the reseller account no longer showed up anywhere in my listed IP’s!

I emailed support and first I got a email asking if I added those ip’s and a list of some more. I explained that support added those on 7/24/01. Latter I was told that I must have added those IP’s because they were not mind and that support had made a change to reflect that early on 8/04/01 that’s why the reseller’s name-servers were not working!

For me this was the last straw, I was trying to start and run a business. I could not see staying with this company any longer. I wrote to them and explained to them that I didn’t see things working out and that I was canceling my service with them and that they should consider giving me a 30-50% refund.

8/05/01 I did here back and was told no refund was possible but I could have a free month. “What do you want to do?”

8/06/01 I re-explained to them that I could not see wasting any more of my time. I told them that I would be canceling and that I expected access to the server until 8/20/01.

I signed a lease with someone else later that evening.

8/8/01 My root password is no longer any good on the server. I emailed support and the main guy, no reply!

Now my question!
Should I inform the Credit Card company that Service was not rendered for the charge, or should I just forget it and chalk it up to experience? I am not the type of person who would think of doing this normally, but this is too much!

Please, what do you think?

Thanks

I hope you saved all your e-mail exchanges with the company.

You did not receive what you paid for (IP addresses, HDD, access for the entire period you paid for, etc.). Call your bank and ask them to process a chargeback against this company for the entire amount you paid. File complaints with the Better Business Bureau and Attorney General of their state. And you should tell us who they are so we know to avoid them.
