I have everything all configured and ready to go. I order a package with paypal. It spits out a signup link. Unfortunately, when I click that link I get "The link you have used to enter the PayPal system is invalid. Please review the link and try again." from paypal. I have edited the modernbill config files to the best of my abilities, I can't get it to work. It goes to the proper place to input the variables, but the variables are not the correct ones. Please, any help is appreciated. This is the demo version of MBill, so I cannot connect to the MBill forums.

I do know that paypal did some changes to their API, maybe is that the reason?

Yes, If PayPal change their API, it may take a day or two for modernbill to catch up.

Although, normally, Admin would post an announcement in the modernbill forums with a fix, so you may have to get someone to have a look for you and copy the file (as I expect they dont update the demo as often).
