The Atlanta location has BGP-routed UUnet and Cogent bandwidth, with UUnet having the higher preference. We're in discussions with several other providers for additional redundancy. 209.51.136.129 is an IP address you can traceroute to inside of the Atlanta location. Yes, some of these are Gateway servers... we're converting them into rackmount cases.

How's it performing?

phearle 08-12-2001, 04:45 PM Still waiting to hear back on the confirmation of my order. Anyone else receive a confirmation email or anything of the sort?
WildWayz 08-12-2001, 04:51 PM Hmmmm no confirmation email, but I spoke to jkehe on ICQ and for the last few days he has said "Should be ready tomorrow" each day :/
Haven't spoke to him in about 36hrs tho :/
I am not giving up hope tho - he did say at the start that it would be about 3-5 business days - so I hope to have it around monday/tuesday.

We ran into a lot of hardware problems... We're waiting on replacement motherboards for a few of the systems. Welcome e-mails will be sent shortly for those that are up and going. I've been awake since 7:30AM Friday, so I'm going to take a break first... I hope you all can understand. :)
Regards,
phearle 08-12-2001, 04:58 PM I'm sure he's really busy. It WOULD be nice to have a confirmation email tho...just to make sure my order isn't messed up before they set it up.

phearle 08-12-2001, 05:00 PM Missed your post jkehe.
Thanks for the update. Any feedback is good for impatient customers (aren't we always?) :D

This is simply untrue. I said that they would be ready either Friday or Saturday. All of the servers that didn't have hardware problems were online by about 10 PM Saturday. I haven't gotten a chance to send out welcome letters yet, which I will do shortly. Please be patient - we've been working on these servers since Friday morning without sleep.
Regards,
WildWayz 08-12-2001, 05:34 PM sorry Jeff - I didn't mean that in a bad way - I kinda figured that something may have gone wrong, and I wasn't having a go.
Sorry if you felt that way - I was originally getting a server with another offer on here, but I was waiting a long time so I cancelled it and went with you... maybe that made me a little impatient for which I apologise.
You get some sleep - servers will still be there tomorrow.

support=profit 08-13-2001, 04:45 AM I think I was the first one to order this server. I have not
heard anything from Jeffrey since two days ago. Back then
he said the server would be ready "tomorrow", (11.th of August).
Has anyone received their "welcome letter" / invoice yet?
support=profit
WildWayz 08-13-2001, 04:53 AM Nah - I have not heard anything back yet. But it will most likely be today that we hear news - poor Jeff must have been shattered as he was awake since Friday =)
Let him sleeeeeeep :D
Think I ordered my server last Tuesday/Wednesday - so his 3-5 business days to get it set up isn't up yet :)
--James
support=profit 08-13-2001, 05:44 AM Ok, I agree with you James.
phearle 08-13-2001, 11:36 PM Big thanks to Jeff!
My server is up and running, and has been since Saturday night!
Looking good! :D
- Peter
support=profit 08-13-2001, 11:46 PM My server too!
Thanks Jeffrey.
WildWayz 08-13-2001, 11:55 PM got mine too
but it is 4:50am!
aaarrrghhh I woke up to check emails! I am sad!
--James
support=profit 08-14-2001, 12:40 AM James, have you received your welcome letter yet?
I have not, but Jeffrey said that he was working on it
1 hour ago.
WildWayz 08-14-2001, 01:21 AM Yep - got it at 3:53am GMT :)
--James
support=profit 08-14-2001, 05:45 AM Jeffrey told me that they have problems with my server,
so I can`t have it today anyway......buhuu.
WildWayz 08-14-2001, 05:48 AM Yeah, they had a whole load of dodgy ram apparently.
My server only has 128mb RAM and not 512mb what I ordered. The email I got from him explained it. Also I am waiting for Dark Orb to authorise my WHM/CPanel license too.
--James
phearle 08-14-2001, 07:45 AM WildWayz,
Same thing happened for me.
- Peter
WildWayz 08-14-2001, 08:09 AM I can accept the ram problem - ram can be dodgy at times :)
Server seems nice and fast from the UK, but I noticed things...
php4.0.4pl1 was installed on the server when I asked for 4.0.6 - not a big problem - but it wasn't compiled with Apache, so PHP isn't working.
The server has the latest Apache/MySQL etc which is great - shame PHP isn't set up nor is mod_gzip.
I would install it myself, but I don't know if it will conflict with WHM/Cpanel if I did, so I am waiting to hear back from Jeff.
Other than those small niggles, the server is performing great when SSHing into it - I can a actually type and the server keeps up with me :)
08:03:57 (144.88 KB/s) - `Apachetoolbox-1.5.34.tar.gz' saved [78754753/78754753]
Downloaded Apachetoolbox as a test - the site for Apachetoolbox was slow in the first place, so 145k/s isn't bad =)
All in all, thanks Jeff for this great offer!

support=profit 08-14-2001, 07:25 PM James,
I`m happy to hear that your server is ok.

Technical support is where this belongs, not a public forum. We would be more than happy to help you if you contact technical support.

WildWayz 08-14-2001, 07:33 PM Hmmmm
I recompiled apache + php so I could get PHP working on the server, only to find it killed WHM/Cpanel so I have spent tonight uninstalling Cpanel/WHM and reinstalling it.
Still PHP isn't compiled with apache, and if I want it looked at it will be $175 :~(

WildWayz 08-14-2001, 07:34 PM Sorry Jeff,
I posted this just after you did.
--James
support=profit 08-14-2001, 07:49 PM I`m so sorry Jeffrey.
It was not a support question to this forum , more like a status rep. I have mailed support on this matter as you know by now.
But I sure see your point. It will not happen again.
Please forgive me for this.
It's no problem to you both... I just don't want this thread turning into a big support mess. We're here to help, but e-mail or phone is the best way to get things taken care of.
Regards,
Chicken 08-14-2001, 10:56 PM We've been asked to mention that there are no servers left at this time.
