View Full Version : What's the nicest vBulletin-based site you've seen?
Megamorph 08-16-2003, 11:34 AM What's the nicest, best designed vBulletin site you've seen? I'm looking for sites that have a portal and forums.
If you know of a top-notch site, please provide a link to it and let us check it out.
GideonX 08-16-2003, 12:03 PM you could always check out the portfolio of the designers of WHT's VB...
http://www.ravio.com/
wirehosts 08-16-2003, 12:06 PM The VB theme I like the best is the default one that they ship it with...
joshiee 08-16-2003, 12:51 PM yeah its pretty nice, but the only reason i hate to use it is just simply because its the default..
RossMAN 08-16-2003, 03:22 PM I'm not sure if this is a default vB skin or not but I really like DVDTalk.com (http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/index.php)'s forums.
wirehosts 08-16-2003, 03:36 PM It looks like a simple edit of it, the default one is http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/index.php

Does webhostingtalk.com count? :)

This is vB3 color scheme :P
wirehosts 08-16-2003, 04:21 PM The vb2 theme was the same wasnt it?
Vortex-Steve 08-16-2003, 04:23 PM Yeah, thats the vB2 design just moved onto vB3. The vB3 design hasn't been finished from what I have read.

Well there was this wacky host that actually used a VB forum as their site. If only I could remember their name. :buck:
wirehosts 08-16-2003, 06:50 PM My favourite VB skin is the one Ravio LLC did for yaxay: http://forum.yaxay.com/

httpme.com ;)
NexDog 08-17-2003, 02:15 AM http://nexusportal.net is the best I've seen. So much more than an active community. :)
Fed-X 09-04-2003, 01:35 AM I'd have to say that www.Yaxay.com is the most tricked out vBulletin site there is.. and it isn't "new", even in Version 2..
RossMAN 09-04-2003, 01:44 AM I'd like to add two more votes
http://www.httpme.com
http://www.clientexec.com/forum/ (love the colors - how much would a skin like this cost?)
NexDog 09-04-2003, 02:10 AM What? httpme is a standard vb skin - just had the colours adjusted in the adminCP. ClientExec looks nice but hardly a complex skin. None are hacked. You got to hack VB, it was made for hacking.

Well I guess Aussie Bob has good taste in colors then (or whoever chose them).
Yours are uber super hacked, just want something simple like ClientExec's.
NexDog 09-04-2003, 02:30 AM They run VB 3 beta and there are no hacks out for it yet. No-one is allowed to release any while it is in beta and all the vb2 hacks will need extensive rehsacking to work.....
Aussie Bob 09-04-2003, 02:37 AM Maybe one day we'll get one of those super duper VB skins. What we have now does the job just nicely. I like that clean and uncluttered look. To me, less is more. :)

The yacht must be in the shop again for a tune up or are you surfing via WiFi on your laptop? ;)
That's what I like about HTTPme's appearance, it's clean, fast and functional.
Less is more.
NexDog 09-04-2003, 03:27 AM I like ours. Integrated support site, personalised to the user, 150+ pages of contents plus 20+ scripts to help people. More is definately more than less.
-Edward- 09-04-2003, 03:39 AM yaxay is nice but it has to probably be the slowest site on the web. takes forever to load since it was moved to rackshack.

Yes Laurance, yours is nice. :)
Esr Tek 09-04-2003, 07:38 AM I may be biased but I like mine the best :P
Bob - Clean and simple, yet boring.
NexDog - I do and I don't like yours
I like the fact of the left sidebar however, I don't like the images so much :0
It does not match your main site and looks like a skin you can download for free (no offense meant).
NexDog 09-04-2003, 07:45 AM Heh, no offence taken. Please take no offence when I say go to an optometrist.
There isn't one skin available that looks like ours. The sidebar, the top menu, you must be blind. :D
Doesn't match the HN site?
Esr Tek 09-04-2003, 08:14 AM :D optometrist.. is that a joke or you meant to tell us your needing one :P
The forums and the main site are totally different colors, the button set on forums looks nothing like main site.
As for it's originality, I have no doubt I will not find another like it.
I do like it, I am just partial I guess to less graphics on forums.
That side bar is bad-ass though, I really like that :P
NexDog 09-04-2003, 08:17 AM They are two different sites and NexusPortal will serve future "nexus" sites like the upcoming NexusWebs. So they aren't meant to look alike. Just share the same logo. :)
Esr Tek 09-04-2003, 08:19 AM Ahhh makes sense :P
I will like to see the NexusWebs site when done, if it looks like that it should be pretty sharp :D
NexDog 09-04-2003, 08:47 AM NexusWebs is completely different again but done by the same designer, Andrei aka Azaloth at WHT.

Sweet!! :gthumb:
Host Visions 09-04-2003, 09:16 AM I like the web design net forums:
http://www.webdesignforums.net/?styleid=3
SwiftyK 09-04-2003, 11:10 AM I like yaxay's. It's very nice. It can run a little slow with all the graphics but the forum is attractive.
Fed-X 09-05-2003, 09:33 PM Yeah, Yaxay is nice not only when it loads decently, but when it is up at all.. I tried it a little while ago and it was offline again. I would think that since RS owns it now, that they wouldn't toss it on an overloaded server or whatever..
Fed-X 09-05-2003, 09:34 PM Graphic intensiveness aside (Yaxay), I probably think www.AlienSoup.com and www.WiredGamers.com are the coolest out there currently.

marinedog 09-05-2003, 09:58 PM not to get out of the subject sorry but were could I get a FREE skin like webhostingtalk (this one) so I can put banners on my forums =) thanks! sorry once again
NexDog 09-05-2003, 10:47 PM That requires hacking vbulletin.
Dedicatedone 09-06-2003, 07:46 AM not to get out of the subject sorry but were could I get a FREE skin like webhostingtalk (this one) so I can put banners on my forums =) thanks! sorry once again
Sorry to say this, but what makes you think that you'll get one of the most popular forum's skin for free?
Dedicatedone 09-06-2003, 07:47 AM www.raviowarning.com
This is the first time I've heard about this. I think I'll check up on this daily. I was going to get a design from them.
