View Full Version : New VortechHosting Design
MCHost-Marc 08-07-2001, 03:34 PM I really like the new VortechHosting ( http://www.vortechhosting.com/ ) design, but it somehow reminds me of CQHost ( http://www.cqhost.com ). And no, i'm not saying it is stolen at all ...i definately like it better than the old one :stickout Good job!
That's a nice face lift.
Often when a company is having a site redesigned, the designer will ask if there's a particular site they like and what they like about it in order to get a more generalized idea. Either way, it's clear the two are entirely different designs. Others may use them as inspiration for the next design.
SECUREDNETWORKS 08-07-2001, 06:44 PM Very nice new design looks professional and clean. That should give them a more professional look to potential customers.
Vortech 08-22-2001, 11:32 PM Kiwi,
I have to say thanks man.. I had no idea what the old designer had done till you let me know about it on here.. To say the least i kicked there ass out the door..
You are right i told our design i kind liked http://www.cqhost.com.. I know they did not take any thing from there site like the last designer was doing.. I made sure my self by looking over them the hole time..
I don't think it's to close to there site about the most i think he looked at was the way it did the nav on the left and he made that even look at lot diff then theres with mouse overs and other things..
Over all i think it tuned out great.. I hope i don't get any bad feed back telling the designer a site i liked :) .. I love the new design i think it tuned out great and no problems as i know nothing was taken this time.. :)
Vortech 08-22-2001, 11:35 PM Did you redesign your site as well??
I may be think of some other site not sure.. This page is driving me nuts http://www.secured-net.net/starter.html the blue looks way out of place there.. May just be me.. :)

http://mapservers.com/network.htm
edude 08-23-2001, 04:13 AM The design didn't look the same, other then that i didn't find anything else, please clarify?

SI-Chris 08-23-2001, 04:20 AM The copy under "Network" is the same, but you might use the same data center and that could be copy from the data center specs and information.
JBIZ718 08-23-2001, 04:21 AM I will say that since i know where both of those came from
Map servers does not have that type of connectivity.
That is something yipes has, and Uunet doesnt do that, or at least not in that facility.

Your site:
"At ValuableHost we have built a high quality network. Starting with Cisco routers and Intel Switches, we then connect to the Internet through a high-speed, triple-redundant, fiber network. This allows for the high bandwidth that is required for even the most bandwidth intensive programs needed to stay competitive in the ever changing world wide web. The high speed connection means that streaming multimedia, probably the biggest bandwidth consumer, will be as easy to view as pictures. The triple-redundancy of our network means that if one of our circuits go down, we won't lose our high-speed connectivity. This was designed to offer you the most reliable service possible. For even better piece of mind, we are constantly upgrading our network to provide the best service possible."

JBIZ718 08-23-2001, 04:24 AM As I said i know where these both came from, and Map Servers is wrong.
Ill leave it at that
Joe
edude 08-23-2001, 04:45 AM As Jbiz718 said it is thier mistake, UUnet does not have that fiber ring, YIPES does. They are using webreseller.net which is where my dedicated host locates thier racks, but i'm on YIPES and they are on UUnet, they have the wrong info on thier site.
Vortech 08-23-2001, 02:22 PM Some how every oen got off subject but ok.. :)
I take every one likes the design better now.. IF any one sees ANY thing that is copied ( Witch i am 100% sure there should not be ) Please let me know i don't like that as much as the next guy trust me.. I just had no idea what that designer had done till Kiwi pointed it all out for us.. And agian thank you very much Kiwi..
Aloha
to me that site does not look stolen/copied by any means maybe it was the only inpiration and he in a bad sounding word copied the idea but you can see he used his own hands to do the graphics etc... it may not be the %100 most original idea but it would in no way make me think he stole it
it just may not seem as creative but not stolen at all :)
just my thoughts as a deigner not a hoster ;)
Vortech 08-23-2001, 08:55 PM Honu, I am with you there kind of.. I am not a designer of any means.. LOL I just kind of told him what i thought looked good he went with it.. I can't draw a stick person..LOL
But i could have a server together in under 20min or less. ;)

mapservers does more than just internet hosting. They used to be on a UUNet connection for their hosting, but they are now on a Yipes connection. So they are wrong for listing UUNet, but not for listing the Yipes specs.
mkaufman 09-07-2001, 08:18 PM So many people have had this design! First it was mybizhosting.com...
