View Full Version : This host looks to good to be true
spcomputing 08-14-2003, 05:42 PM I'm one of those people who unfortunately hosted using ValueHost (and renewed twice  ) so now I'm on the lookout for a new host.
Anyway, someone posted a link to a site called eukhost (http://www.eukhost.com/)
I looked at the features of their Gold Plan which is only about £55 per annum and the features are amazing. I looked into their terms but couldent find anything odd and I was just wondering if anyone here knew something about this host that I should know because it looks a little too good to be true ATM
TIA :)
CrazyTech 08-14-2003, 05:43 PM Wrong forum, this should go into the Web Hosting Forum. I will ask a mod to move.
loadthis 08-14-2003, 05:44 PM wrong forum, but a little advice, if it looks to good to be true, it probly is. Do a search for them in this forum, you will probly find more info on them.
Regards
Jason
abc5net 08-14-2003, 05:46 PM I have seen more cheaper hosts with better features. I don't know this host, but if they provide them so cheap, we can't be sure in their service quality. Because people pay for good support and uptime, tech professionality etc, not only for features. If you provide so cheap service, you cant hire support staff, only if you have hundreds of clients.

Reality Hosting 08-14-2003, 06:05 PM Is you website important? If downtime or a lack of service, or the host going bust will cause you a lot of grief look for a company that charges a bit more (do your homework still) If it's just a personal site, you could give these guys a try see how it is.
It appears they don't allow you to pay monthly? I'd always been warry of hosts that require yearly payments.
I'm 100% with you, Reality Hosting.
Always think that the company should cover their expenses: support staff, licenses, and many more.
Low prices could mean lack of support, low uptime, etc
I always believe that it's worth to pay a buck more for a good service.
I can only advice you to do more researches - maybe you'll find something better that suits your needs.
2cents ;)
MrAlien 08-15-2003, 04:40 AM Most hosts that offers that much doesn't stay for long. Pay more and get better service.
Arvand 08-15-2003, 05:34 AM Its not that bad. If they get a lot of customers at that price then they can cover expenses. I know some people who used to frequent here that offered 35 GB of bandwidth for 5 dollars a month.
spcomputing 08-15-2003, 07:00 AM Well, I'm going to give them a go. If they are no good, I shall warn other users via this forum.
Although my site is personal, uptime is still very important to me. I am also a bit worried about exceeding the 15GB bandwidth limit, but at £2 per GB it's not bad -- seeing as this hosting plan is already about £20 cheaper than the one I use already.
Also, bit worried about their support -- other posts on this forum do mention crappy support alot, so will test them :)
Thanks all of you for your help :)

You seems to forget something, more customer means more staff needed to cover support work. :)

Best of luck, and I hope they turn out to be one of the good ones - though I have to admit I've seen those words of yours more than once on this forum (famous last words) :)
spcomputing 08-15-2003, 02:38 PM Thanks akashik, I hope it all goes well, however, knowing my luck, it'll turn out to be a crap host :(
I sent an e-mail to them earlier via their contact form on their website with a few queries I had and the e-mail has still not been answered... Not a good starting point eh? :(
zoobie 08-15-2003, 09:12 PM You'll be back...

Website Rob 08-16-2003, 01:33 AM If you are already finding their response time slow (from an eMail *and* Form request) then why on Earth would you still want to go with them?
I have found, through personal experience and observation, people make buying decisions based on the following variables and in the following order:
- cost
- features
- service/support/quality
The smart shopper will always do some price comparison while relating to features. That is to be expected.
The third variable is what usually comes back to bite people, because they don't pay enough attention to it. Only when "service/support/quality" is factored in, can people understand the true value of what they have purchased. Unfortunately and especially in the Hosting market, most people dont' realize this until it's too late. :bawling:
spcomputing 08-16-2003, 05:20 AM Almost 24 hours Iv'e been waiting at the time of writing this post.
